The centering on that 52 is freaky rare.

Love all the bats in the BG of the 53B Ashburn photo, cool image.

Copped this off eBay auction last night. Could've added a seasick tilt-y 9 the other day at a nice price, but decided to pay a premium for the nicer 8; liked the minimal tilt and way the three white borders looked so even at the bottom area of the card around the black name box. Always liked Mick's glare in this shot.

Man, I just can't compete with you guys anymore! So switching genres, I grabbed the 1991 Premiere "Rap Pack" set for next to nothing. Highlights below.

Very nice pick up!! Those 1974 OPC cards are tough to find compared to other issues from that time.

How anyone could ever authenticate a Greg Maddux autograph short of watching him sign it escapes me. He should have been a doctor............

Default Brooks

Surprise pick up at lunch today. (Sorry for big pic). Lower grade, but the price was right. Decent centering. Very slowly but surely working on '57.

Nice pick up. In the collecting world I live in, that is definitely not "lower grade". I would take cards like that in a heartbeat.

That's the one 1957 I really wish I had. Well, okay, Mantle also. But wow! Lovely RC of one of the greatest ever!

Thanks guys. I stopped in this coin shop on a whim. I had been in there in the past but probably not in 5 years. He has a little section of vintage. He said $70 and I said sold! There are a couple corner creases up top, worse on the right. Had always wanted this card but never really expected to own it. Made my day!

I agree with the others that is a very nice card and not low grade. Congrats on the nice card.

Now this 55 Bowman Mantle I picked up from a few days ago from a fellow Net54 member for my set is low grade.

Very nice Mantles. That 60 is especially noteworthy for the lack of PD, the focus of the main picture, the batting Mick also doesn't have that "caved in" face thing that many have due to registration issues-- and of course the centering. Well done on that pickup!

Saw a centered 74 Schmidt with no PD and had to jump all over it last night on eBay.

Awesome Schmidt Matt! I have a PSA 8 and a SGC 88. That's a primo card of my favorite player.

Holy Cow that 58 Mick is sweet-- great overall eye appeal with the focus and color and centering all there. Congrats! One of his best looking cards.

Thx Eric and Arex; always felt 74 Schmidt is kinda slept on, since it's his first solo card. Also has so many frequent problems outta the pack.

That was in the back of my mind too. What was the card graded prior to being awarded a 10. I have become too much of a skeptic with extremely high graded cards, especially when the card is resubmitted and lands a 10. Really ? If you're a big player with the PSA registry, looks like PSA payed it forward to you. I'm curious what was seen in the card THIS time around that wasn't seen previously.

Always loved the design of the 65's.

Also glad to have picked this one up as well in Goodwin's auction last night.

I am! Cepeda is one of my main guys so I jumped all over this, I paid less than 2 bucks I think

Now my lifelong quest will be to find the Joe Hoerner who's missing most of his name and re-unite them, and whichever card was printed below Orlando that has half of Cepeda on it!

I really enjoy vintage so much more than modern cards for weird reasons like this

!960 Morrell Meats Dandy Don Drysdale; graded a little higher than I expected. I'm now at 9/12 for the set, on the lookout for the short prints: Snider, Hodges & Furillo.

If you're a big player with the PSA registry, looks like PSA payed it forward to you. I'm curious what was seen in the card THIS time around that wasn't seen previously.
sorry for the late reply guys, been outta town and didn't have reliable internet /phone access. was kinda nice.

anyways, will be glad to answer all the questions in full so that there are no negative thoughts in how it was bumped...

a. nolan ryan is my guy. and really just stick to the basic topps run, however i have several basic topps sets.
b. i don't consider myself a "big player" at all. so i don't think they paid it forward at all and i certainly don't have a direct red phoned line to joe o.
c. most importantly, it wasn't a crack out at all. again, i stick to the basic topps sets and over the course of 5 years or so, i managed to buy 6 psa 9s and 1 sgc 98/10.

with all that being said, i figured the best strategy in attempting to bump was to simply send them all in under review and hope that one stood out from the rest and honestly and naturally one did. i personally think it's a brilliant strategy that i will be utilizing from here on out and don't mind sharing.

if ya see previous posts, i am a psa guy vs sgc, but in no way find them to be a perfect company. the brand is certainly better both in volume of subs and sales of comparable grades but they've also made some serious mistakes in the past in which they seem to be learning from but again, in no way am i advertising for them or stating all hail psa.

anyways, that's pretty much the story and happy to answer any other questions. i'm as open as a book.
