Default t206 HOF cards climbing in price?

Have seen what seemed to be a trend but big numbers at PWCC auction tonight on Ebay, all for SGCs and common backs. A McGraw 3 for $206, Collins 4 for $380, Waddell 4 for $500 or so, and many others in that vein. Have noticed WaJo's climbing a lot, and some others, but wonder if general movement or just a blip.

I was an underbidder on the Wadell. Seemed to me that a number of cards were going for, to me, very high prices. I know jack about looking for shill bids and was wondering about the waddell in particular...or does PWCC have that strong a following? Have acquired great cards at great prices from prior PWCC auctions but not tonight.

Same night, same card, same grade and sold for $250 less...

.. granted it may not be quite as nice as PWCC, but huge price difference for the same night. I've noticed a lot of HOFers that I'd bought over the past 2 years fetching a good deal more than I'd paid (Matty dark cap and white cap, Cobb bat on, Young portrait and bare hand, etc) but can't say I've tracked closely enough to see if it is a trend.

Want to note, I have bought several cards from PWCC and have been very happy with cards and with service by phone/email.

Weil, I'm hoping price hikes are real and especially for that Waddell at $510 for a 4. Just last week got a 3.5 with great image and centering for $180 and thought I'd overpaid a bit...You linked to a 4 that went for "only" $260 last night and wondering why the price different. From scan, it was a rather "dirty" 4 but still got above average for Waddell. So perhaps there is a current move to paying a lot extra for extra-nice examples. I hope that's true as I collect nothing but well-centered clean t206s...and have always hoped for a "bonus" for that. Perhaps that is now happening, at least for HOFers.

Or maybe people just finally believe that economy is better and will NOT collapse in near future???
