Default Fake 1952 Topps

Can anyone help me get rid of this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Topps-1952-M...item1c33a029d7

I am getting so sick of all of the fakes and reprints out there. What is worse is that this has already been bid up over $5000.

This sleazeball stinks to high heaven. He even thought to put the card on white paper so you can't spot the probable frosting.

So I guess I'll have to send cash, huh?

As for the appeal to Ebay, I did a side by side comp of the auction pic and the one this seller is using. Besides the color inconsistencies and saturation issues that make this jump out as a clear fake, there are other indicators. Look at the left and top border. There is a white area between the border and the blue background that does not appear in the actual card. There are others, but that is the first that jumped out to me.

Here's the image URL to send to Ebay should they contact you asking for additional information.

Bill,

Go on card targets web site, search by Topps then 1952. You will have a bunch of grades to choose from. Select PSA 5 and it takes you to the various sales at this grade.

Going by memory here but this is close to what I remember. It is pretty intuitive and bet of all it's free! Great site.

Excuse my French, but holy crap, that's incredible! Thank you so much, Zach! I was about to say you're pretty spry for a man that would be 115 if he were still alive, but the ballplayer's first name was spelled "Zack".

I think I have a new favorite site (behind this one, of course). What an amazing tool.

Do you or anybody know how long the images associated with each sale are maintained in their database? Or are they stored indefinitely?

The real problem for me with this one is that there is no way the card he put in it would even grade a PSA 5.

I've almost reached the point where I'm through trying to stop these fakes. I think if people out there are dumb enough to bid money on these obvious fakes, they deserve to be bilked.

Because if only they'd educate themselves with a quick google search, they could become familiar with the diagnostics and not be taken in.

Vintage baseball cards are pretty hard to replicate, far more difficult even than forging coins or stamps or currency in my opinion, and once you know the look and the feel, you'll never get bilked by an outright forgery.

I say i have done some research on the 52 myself, you gotta educate yourself before making huge purchase. And so i will and continue on to do more.
Furthermore..this board is very helpful in my quest for a 52 in my future want-list.
