This seller has great feedback and I would buy from him - this is a very creative scan:

Thanks, Scott - this scan has the whiff of one of those cheesy 70's posters with a map of the universe implying our insignificance...

To take an opposite approach, check out this one:

I think I see - no, wait -I thought I saw Frank Chance! You could stub your toe in the darkness...

I saw one like that the other day where it looked like the seller had actually propped his card against a park bench, then focused on the back of the bench. Can't you get a scanner for about $40? They're very versatile - I even scanned a baseball and it came out great.

Someone should tell the guy to put the light on the front of the card. Maybe he took the picture was taken at night?

Firstly, I've made my share of rough scans, invariably making the card or whatever I'm trying to sell look worse that it really is. They don't call me 'Moire Dave' for nothing (I said moire, not moron).

My favorite scans are when the 'original' T206 Wagner or 33 Goudey Lajoie is offered on eBay. Invariably, the card is short at a surreal angle and from 10-20 feet away, is out of focus and with a heavy shadow covering half of the card. It looks as if they are shooting an German expresionist silent movie rather than trying to sell a baseball card.

Will that scan be going up for auction soon with a note that it "might be original, you don't know??"

JUST KIDDING, of course!!

A little too much detail, but still quite nice.

Could it be a Lajoie from the rare T206 mini set, issued only in the Midwest? Topps never had an original idea...
