Pre WWI - T206, it's about the only one I can afford and find easily.

WWI to WWII - Sport Kings 1933 (love the variety, all kinds of different athletes), 41 Play Ball (great looking color photos), 33 Goudey (great looking pictures, and affordable for the most part)

Post WWII - Regular issue - either 67 Topps (nice, clean fronts with good photos) or 71(love the black borders, plus it was the first pack of cards I ever opened) or 72 Topps (love the psychadelic feel of them, and the in action cards).

Post WWII oddball issues - Red Heart Dog Food (great photos once again) or Redman Chewing tobacco cards (with or without tabs they look nice)

19th century: N172, N162
Pre WWI: Fan Craze, T204
Pre WW2: '35 Goudey (mint), '38 Goudey, with writing on (e.g. high numbers)
Post war: '53 Bowman

Oddball: They came out in '63 or '64,and they are supposed to be "transfer" cards--to skin, or something else. Nice and primitive.Topps.

I'm very conventional. I eliminated most of them...

Pre WWI: T212 (any year) Colorful paintings
Pre WWII: 1941 Playballs (love the color and nicknames)
Post WWII: 1957 (first pack I remember opening) and still a clean, straight-forward design. 1963 Topps a close second.
Post WWII oddball: Wilson Wieners (just shouts "baseball!")
and it came with hot dogs too.

Julie, nope, he said SET, singular. The Acadamy Awards doesn't give give out multiple Best Picture Awards, so you can't shoose multiple sets for each catagory
