Default T206 Piedmont 50 Subjects?

Hey Guys! So I picked this card up last night. I found it on eBay and I noticed something rather different about it. I saw that instead of 150 subjects it only says 50. Now after looking at the scan it doesn't seen like there is any paperloss. Looks good to me. Any information? Value? Other examples? Thanks!

I'm guessing it's the scan and not the card. My old scanner "erased" some letters periodically.

piedmont 150, missing the 1.

hope you didn't buy it thinking it was a 50 subject card.

Hey Waz, I've seen the same as what Eric mentioned in a thread a while ago. I'll try to dig it up but maybe email the seller to confirm.

Oh okay! I thought I had something here. Either or the card is great and worth it for only $30.

I have had a card like that it was a small amount of paperless that you could barely see. I think I still have a scan...I'll try to find.

Hi Waz

I saw that same card recently on the Bay, I figured it was paper loss and decided not to take the chance.

Like you said, either way its a nice card for the price you paid.

I do remember years ago, we had a member here post a T206 with a Sweet Caporal back that was missing the second "s" in "subjects" on the back. The member examined the card and was positive the missing "s" was not from paper loss.

Nice pick-up!

Jantz

It could happen a couple ways.

If someone erased a bit of the plate for some reason. I can't really see it on that spot unless they were fooling around.

Or

If the transfer used to lay out the plate didn't transfer properly.

That's how the odd doubled captions on the front probably happened.
There's also at least one P150 back that shows doubling of the top, baseball series and a bit of the right border.

I'd seen a few like this on Ebay a year or two ago, but the scans weren't good enough to tell if there was paper loss.

Default Waz....

you did the right thing my friend! sometimes you have to take a chance.....it's a nice example for $30.00 and worth the risk inmho....you might have to take a chance on a few and come up craps, but when you hit a GEM, it makes it all worth it!.....like hitting the mini lottery when you get one......an upside down back in a lot.....a missing ink/magenta......double strikes.....etc ....etc....

keep trying my friend....they are fun to search for...like a treasure hunt...

I'm keeping my fingers for you my friend....this may be/ may not be, but in life you have to take the chance sometimes...

btw....I would like to nominate you here as our unofficial spokesperson for the younger generation of pre war/T206 collecting.....keep our hobby alive WAZ! you are our future

Well guys, turns out it was a scanner issue and you guys were right :/ Darn! It's a beautiful card though and I love it regardless. Strangely enough though, the card came wet with water all over the packaging. Sigh. At least it's in a holder!

And thanks for the kind words guys. I will definitely accept that role Johnny!
