Default T206 Broadleaf 350 vs. Black Lenox

I am sure this has been discussed before, trying to get a solid difference between the two, both value wise and scarcity...

if i properly understand the T206 Resource breakdown, you get different subjects/ print groups with each back, and only the super prints (group 5) can be found with both backs ... i am sure they can explain that much better than me

lots of minor leaguers in broad leaf 350, for sure

i actively pursue both, but they can be painfully tough at times if you are going for a certain combination and are waiting for them to pop up on net54, auction houses or ebay

they are out there, but in some cases it takes a considerable amount of patience, that much seems certain

if i was chasing ONLY the back, i would have to agree with T206 Resource, black lenox has the edge over broad leaf 350

Without looking at T206resource, my gut tells me black lenox is tougher than Broadleaf 350. That is totally unscientific, but I have been watching backs for about 20 years.

Lenox is much tuffer, i have found. Also been collecting for 20 years. Seems that there are way more BL 350's up for auction.

Don't think so, but Billy Broadleaf is pretty easy to find with BL350.

Back in the good 'ol days (1980s and early '90s) of T206 collecting, my dad and I had purchased literally thousands of T206 cards often as large lots and typically from sellers who didn't care much about the backs.

Looking back at those 'random back' purchases I can remember getting all of the different varieties of backs, except for drum and BL460 (and of course no brown OM, brown lenox or Cobb). I recall getting somewhere around 3 lenox cards but at least 5 BL350s. I know that this is a really small sample size so take it for what it's worth. However, I'd also add that when I actively looked for tougher backs, years ago, BL 350 just seemed easier to find than Lenox.

Default Hey Kevin

If you compare "apples with apples"....by comparing BROAD LEAF 350 vs LENOX, you are limited to only the 6 super-prints. Approx. 80 subjects in the 350/460
series and the 460-only series that were printed with LENOX were NOT printed with BROAD LEAF 350 backs.

With that in mind.....BROAD LEAF 350 cards of the 6 super-prints are in some instances tougher to find than LENOX. For example here are my blue Chase cards.
The LENOX is easier to find than the BROAD LEAF 350 version. This same fact also applies to the Red Cobb.

But, don't take my opinion on this. There are several Net54er's serious collectors of blue Chase back runs....ask them if they have a BROAD LEAF 350 Chase ?

Furthermore, if you are comparing "apples with oranges"....then I will agree that in general, LENOX cards are somewhat tougher than BROAD LEAF 350 cards.

Remember that approx. 170 different T206 subjects were printed with the BROAD LEAF 350 back, while only approx. 80 different T206 subjects were printed
with the LENOX back.

Both are tough; Black Lenox is a little tougher.

Survey of 103,725 T206 Internet sales 2008-2013:

T206 Black Lenox = 72 sales; 1 in 1441 (0.07%)
T206 Broad Leaf 350 = 107 sales; 1 in 969 (0.10%)

I was probably wrong on this one. I actually thought that Lenox was almost a 2 to 1 premium over BL350....

Scott R,

Do you have the complete stats on the survey that you could either post here or alternatively email to me privately?

Best Wishes,

To jump on the bandwagon...I also agree that black Lennox are definitely tougher than bl 350...and I also agree that they are undervalued!

Ted, I know of
3 Chase (blue) Lenox and 2 BL350s, no 460.
4 Cobb (red) Lenox and 0 BL350s, 1 460.

For those 6 super prints Lenox does appear to be easier to find. As a brand, I agree Lenox is more scarce.

Default Hey Mike

I've seen that movie a couple of times.....I'm a Nicholson fan.

And, back then I really thought Helen Hunt was one sexy gal.

However, I'm not quite sure what you are alluding to ?

I don't recall how "OCD" applies here.

Just for the record no one refered to Ted as OCD, Johnny said Jim R was, as well as himself...I believe it was being used as a compliment (Jedi-like knowledge).
