Default 1952 Topps Salesman Sample Question

Hi guys. Picked up two thirds of a panel recently. Has anyone ever seen another with the O-Pee-Chee sticker over the US$ price

I have not but would not assume the sticker is original to the sample.

I have zero doubt that it is original

Not saying it isn't but what is the provenance?

I do not want to get into the story just yet, I will probably share it on the vintage hockey forum when the second part of the deal is done. What I have acquired so far is around 5000 cards, all between 1952 and 1958 with the majority being hockey and baseball from 57 and 58.

I look forward to the background story when you can tell it. I am trying to assemble one of the Topps salesman samples for each year, 52 through 67. Still a couple of years short, but have a 3 card cut panel for 52.

Anthony, Griffins, is our resident guru on Salesman Samples. But if Dave has not seen one like yours, they must be rare.

Thank you for posting the link. I found other auction results through a Google search but not these

I have heard of blank backed OPC 52 samples but not printed. Topps was always consistently inconsistent though!

Anthony should know for sure but I don't think I've seen more than one intact 52 sample.

OPC was in the midst of changes, trying to get back into distribution of baseball cards. At that time, they were discussing with Topps about a licensing agreement, which didn't happen until later in the 50's. I suspect these were samples made as part of those efforts.
