Default Is this Game Used Hank Aaron Bat Real?

Thinking about making a run at it. I have done some research, but can not figure this damn thing out. Owner claims it's a 57 season bat, but a 57 season bat sold at mears and had a different number on the knob. Does anyone here have any opinions on this bat? Is this the real deal? It's not gonna be cheap but if it's authentic, I may take a stab at it.

Here is the ebay listing with full description, if it helps anyone provide Stephen an opinion.

My personal opinion is that it is a 1960 index bat.

I would leave it alone. Condition is everything, and this bat is a mess. Plus, there's nothing to back up the sellers claim that the bat was used by Aaron. Think with your head, not you heart.

Players can order multiple models of bats during a season(A99, R43, etc). They don't have to stick to just one model.

Stephen, if you are not familiar with what is meant by index bat, here is a pretty good read. Good luck.

Joe,

This information is gold.

The Aaron bat doesn't match up at all.

Should we make the seller aware? His feedback seems gold.

Why 1960? It's got 50's center label, with what looks like the 59-up "Genuine." I'd say 1959 bat.

FWIW, the seller doesn't ever put the bat into Aaron's hands. (I hate that dodge myself.) It appears to be EXACTLY what he says it is: a game used R43 Hank Aaron bat. His story could be absolutely true: somebody got this prized possession in the late 50's at a Giants game. It's just that this was probably a stock bat that some pitcher or shlub grabbed, used, cracked, and handed to a kid.

And to KCRFan: you must have finer taste than I do! If I can get a 50's or 60's (or even 70's!) REAL Aaron bat for under a grand, but it's cracked and dried some, I'm taking it!!

Ken

I think its because of the Genuine and also the way the Powerized is. Either way the bat was ended and someone bought it for $3,500. So I'm sure well see it eventually down the road either relisted because of it being returned or sold in a major sports auction

Correct. Genuine is 59-60 and the Powerized appears to be the straight version from 1960.

Just noticed this bat is now in mears and they call it a pro model and ordered by Aaron from 1955 or 57. Feel bad for the person who’s gonna drop big bucks on this one.

This was troys reply to my email asking how he determined its a 1955/57 and not a 1959/60 bat.
