Default Happy Birthday George!

In honour of George's 137th birthday, today, here are my top 5 cards, and a pair of "non-card" items.

Great collections, everyone. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,

Richard.

Love the Sporting Life paper Richard. Did you open it up to see what interesting content was inside? Those papers are fragile.

Thanks, Jay. I've got to admit, I am pretty thrilled with that pick-up. Scored it on eBay for less than $20 a couple weeks ago. The paper arrived in a plastic bag in a thick cardboard envelope. I haven't taken it out of the bag yet because I can just tell that the paper is so brittle (that scan is from the eBay listing, truth be told). I will do it eventually, I just haven't worked up the nerve yet

Cheers,

Richard.

Wow, there's some amazing stuff here. Thanks for sharing.

I will just go with a card I really enjoy from each sport I collect:

That 1969 Victoria Cassius Clay is sure nice. I just got back my copy - PSA gave it a 4 grade. But in a 6 grade, Wow !

Fond memories of those 1990 Score cards! That was probably the last year that I bought packs, and being from Boston (originally), gotta love the Boggs/Clemens with backs switched!

So many great items, I need to contribute something. This composite isn't from the best resolution scans, but will have to do for now. A group of colored Detroit mounts.

While it's no Hitler rookie card, this new addition leaped to my top spot and I can't think of another four to include along with it... so enjoy the Cowgirl Kemble all by itself.

Default Can I Play?

Five favorites for different reasons

This one replaced the John Burkett in my collection.

Paid $200 for this one before I knew what I was doing.

Autographs I obtained in person at 1957 spring training games, priceless.

A Christmas present I gave to myself.

I had to find the autographs for this "perfect" addition to my "pedestrian" collection.

Those are sweet. I had never seen them before. This is the good and bad about Net54 - you see amazing cards like this, and now you have new holes in your collection!

Also, Jim, love those cards.

Great cards Joe! To have those with normal mounts would be an incredible accomplishment. To get them with color mounts is off the charts.

Thanks for the kind words! The Young was the first "big" (for me) card I bought after re-entering the hobby a number of years ago. Will always be one of my favorites...

Very interesting, thanks Denny! A quick Google search just revealed this image of another E90-1 Young (sold in REA in 2008) which has the same printing lines. This may be one of the other examples that you referenced... Has anyone seen similar on an E90-1 card other than Cy Young?

I don't know if they are the top 5, but a nice mix of sport and non-sport.

David- if you ever get tired of the T205 Cobby I think I can find him a home.

And I know everyone was waiting for my top piece to be shown again....
