Etiquette Question - post-auction (ebay) commentary
A fairly interesting auction concluded earlier today. As much as I wanted to win it - it would have been my first purchase in nearly two years and it was right at the crosshairs of my collecting focus - I was seriously outbid.
I would like to talk about the particulars (and I would be surprised if other members weren't also participating in the auction) but I also, considering the possibility that a Net54er won it, want to give the winner a chance to broach the subject (and possibly receive their winnings and inspect the item first). What is the etiquette on these things? How long is long enough to wait for the winner to make an appearance? |

Last time this was discussed, 7 days was recommended before outing the auction so that the card(s) could be paid for and mailed/received before "outing." In the past when it was the day after or a couple days after, people were emailing the seller to offer bigger sums of money and the original auction was cancelled.

Why are you sweating anything out? It sounds like the OP (original poster) wanted to discuss an item of interest, but wanted to make sure it was properly delivered to the buyer first. That is very proper. If doesn't sound at all like he thinks it is fake or altered, based on the way I read the post. Would you rather him ask the question and then have your sale cancelled by the seller?

There is no rule. There isn't even consensus agreement. Though you will find individuals with strong personal opinions, sometimes two or three who share an opinion and think it should be a rule and, after talking amongst themselves, sometimes think it is a rule.
