I've been holding my breath.

There are now over 40,000 cards on the list, hopefully no duplicate entries.

I am getting down to the point of "Holy Sh*t, this is getting tough.". Every card that I need from here on out is a HOF, save for Foster and Helm being the last two SL to go. To be quite honest, as I look at the remaining Big Dawgs, I have to wonder if it is do-able without a divorce lawyer There MAY be a couple that can be had for a single Ben but most of what is left will require twin Bens or better. I will keep on slogging.

Here are the latest three pick-ups for a MN of 476.9

50. Ted Breitenstein OM
228. Hughie Jennings (Portrait) SC350
311. John McGraw (Finger In Air) SC150

I've been at "The Monster" for a little over a year now and finally reached my first milestone. These latest three pick-ups bring my total to 100:

Frank, I added Josh Devore and a Harry Howell portrait. It's been quite a while since I've been able to buy any T206, and my number is still small. But it feels good just to add something to my collection.

So, please up my monster number to 23. Thanks!

Three weeks, three cards; heck at this rate I'll be done by the end of the year.

New MN is 479.9

The latest three are:

202. J. Ross Helm OM
34. Chief Bender (Portrait) P350

477. Joe Tinker (Portrait) Piedmont (PSA 1 with a decent front and an unfortunate bit of Paperloss so Piedy "who knows" what .)

Hi Frank,

I'm at 385 now with 29 different backs represented.

Still looking for one example each of AB460, RH, Uz, Dr and BL460 in PSA 5.

Many thanks for your commitment to this thread,

Scot

Alex - I hadn't tallied the remaining cards in a while, so glad you asked - other than the 6 I'll never own, I need 25 (so called) commons, 15 SL's and 21 Hofers - not impossible in my lifetime.

Kevin - That is very doable. The fun thing about the monster is that there are a ton of subsets (or mini-milestones as I like to think of them).

A quick turn around used to be my norm but lately I have been going nearly a month between updates. The planets aligned this week, I guess. I grabbed 5 since my last post (including two from The MN maestro himself. Thanks Frank!). Foster kills the Southern Leaguers for me. All I have left are the six biggest Dawgs, the non-Nat'l Doyle (NY Hands Above Head), the inaugural HOF class, players celebrated in movies, poetry and song and a few HOF that are now by anyone with more than a passing interest in the history of the game. It grows questionable as to how much further I can take this. It is a given that my pace will slow but I will keep looking

After these five, my new MN is 484.9

242. Willie Keeler (Batting) P150
57. Mordecai Brown (Cubs On Shirt) P150
110. Sam Crawford (With Bat) SC350
313. John McGraw (Portrait No Cap) P150
172. Ed Foster OM

Not my scan but.....

Mike - That's awesome! I often wonder if it easier to put the if cards for last or if doing so will make me want to give up when I get there. What are your thoughts?

I always intended to get the tough ones out of the way first, it's was simply a case of 486 other cards coming my way first.
