Just thinking about all the Cobb cards out there and I was wondering which of them is your favorite? Which pose really describes his character? My favorite is his T3, but it doesn't do his character justice -- I think the E95 captures it better. His T202 A Desperate Slide is a card that captures his grittiness but then it is adjoined with the T205 portrait which I find less characteristic of Cobb(maybe this portrait got him the nickname of Georgia Peach). T227 is an awesome card & his T206 red background is a stunner (it's as if he is staring right through the viewer). There are alot of great Cobb's out there, which one is your favorite?

...until I finally got hold of a t205 with great color and registration...and then the t205 until I picked up my first t202 with the Cobb/Austin center-panel. I prefer the green background t206 over the red, but they both are classics. I guess I'll take one of each.

It looked real nice would have likely graded PSA 4. It was 1998 and the guy wanted 185 bucks... Should've bit but I bought some other nice T206's at the time so it wasn't that bad...

Aside from that I don't own a Cobb until I bite the bullet and buy his T201.

There are so many beautiful Cobb cards; it is difficult to pick one. I have always liked the T206 Bat off. The colors and image are so nice. The red background is a hobby classic.

I also like the E93 (and E98s, I think) where Cobb is reaching up from the bottom of the card to catch a ball.

The T202 Cobb/Jennings/Cobb sliding card is another beauty I have always wanted.

Jim

The Cobb M101-2 is one of my faves. I have it framed with a cut signature. It 's too big to scan the whole thing, but here is the pose.

Another fave, as you can see from my login, is the Brunner's Bread Cobb.

Although, I do not own any Cobb cards. I do own one of his cancelled checks. Cobb IS my favorite baseball player of all- time. I also, believe that he IS the greatest baseball player of all- time, as well. Enough of my random thoughts, on Cobb. My favorite card of Ty, is his T-206 red background. I would LOVE to own that card.

Best Regards,

Adam J. Moraine

A few other favorites, tough to find.

1924 V122 Williard's Chocolate Sports Champions Ty Cobb

1930s Rogers Peet Sport Album Ty Cobb

1928 Star Player Candy Cobb

The T202 Cobb/Moriarty is a classic.

The PC796 set has a great Cobb. I used to own the set, which had belonged to Don Steinbach. One of those items which I really regret selling.

Other nice Cobbs that I wish I had - Rose Postcard, Plow's Candy, Tango Egg, Darby Chocolate, ranging from really tough to virtually impossible to find. Does anyone out there in Forum-land have one?

I guess it just got temporarily lost, but anyway, I posted it again, much smaller, below. I think the Cracker Jack is his best card.

The quintesssential Cobb image for me is the famous Charles M. Conlon photo of him plowing into third that is on three T202 combinations entitled "Ty Cobb Steals Third" (but not the one mentioned earlier in the thread).

I would post one here but I have yet to suceed at posting an image on this site. I had one of the lesser ones (theones without CObb's portrait on teh side) on Ebay recently at :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5125542283&ssPageName=STRK:MEUS:IT

It is the center card in the scans on that listing and you can supersize it if you want a closer look.

The 3 favorites that I own are:

1. 1914 Cracker Jack ( which is my all-time favorite card).

2. T227 since it is just a cool pose and neat colors.

3. E95- great glare from Cobb and the rich, red background.

The next one that I would like to have eventually is the T205. I love the color and the artwork on that card.

On my web site WWW.4EliteCars.com - The T3 Cobb, 1915 Cobb Cracker Jack and the Shoeless Joe Jackson National Game are owned by Guy Chamberlin of Williamsburg Stamp and Coin, here in my town. I owned the T3 Cobb for a little while, but the right edge just didn't seem "correct", it seemed short. I posted them to attempt to help him sell them, I was not representing them as mine. Only trying to help out a really nice guy. All of the other cards on the site are mine, as are the cars. If you are interested in the 3 items I spoke of, just email me and I will get you in touch with Guy.

Having had 113 Cobbs at one time and 44 were Red Back- it wasn't availability alone that made me continue to seek them, the red portraits display extremely well as does the Tinker , Chance, Kling and M.Brown portraits, I still have some very strong ones of each ,but...they were ovewhelmed with the abundance of THE RED COBB !

Line up over 70 combined Red portraits and they just take you.

The e-95 looks unique and detailed , but sorta shows a wimpy looking Cobb and I agree with Julie that the Cracker Jack may be best, he has that, ah...THAT"S RIGHT LOOK , IAM TYRUS RAYMOND COBB!!!!!!!

That bread card above as the Mello Mint have evaded me, so...I guess I cannot comment on them, but....anyone have an example that I CAN BUY ? ...ugh!

The Tango Eggs set has two variations of Cobb, which
have the same pose as the E106 caramels. (You'll never
get to see these cards - locked in a safety box and will
never see the light of day.)

Coolest card? 09 Dietsche Cobb Batting Postcard.

My vote is for a M110 Sporting Life: a cross between a e90-1 and T3.
