Default Renewed request for m101-4/5 scans

September of last year I asked for front and back scans of the various m101-4/5 sets, and am thankful for having received several generous responses.
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=172727
I am renewing my request again, as I am trying to confirm existing front-back combinations for all of the advertisers of these sets. If you have front-back scans that you are willing to share, I would greatly appreciate it. As of now, here are the number of different subjects with confirmed backs from each set. I will ask for more specific info on a few of the advertisers in this thread, but any scans would be appreciated.

Famous & Barr 206
Herpolsheimer 197
Weil Baking 164
Globe Clothing 155
Standard Biscuit 145
Sporting News 142
Indy Brewing 118

Green-Joyce 55
Ware's Basement 47
Altoona Tribune 46
Block & Kuhl 43
Successful Farming 34
Everybody's 23

I have yet to confirm the following Famous & Barr front-back combinations:
#23 Chance, #177 Tyler, #179 Veach and #180 Viox (need scan) (Tyler may not exist)

I have yet to confirm the following Herpolsheimer front-back combinations:
#40 Cravath, #130 Murphy and #150 Russell

I also need many scans from the Herpolsheimer set. A near set missing only a handful or so was sold a couple of years back in a major auction house and the pop reports shows almost all of the set, so I consider these to be confirmed but would like scans anyway if you please.

Hi Todd, I am confused, as always. Aren't Weil Baking cards D328 and D329?

Thanks, Rick

You're right Rick--good catch. I had a brain cramp. If you do find some D380s with Weil Baking instead of Clement Bros Bread backs, let me know and I'll pay you dearly

Just looking for D329s.

Hi Todd,

I can confirm Harmon with TSN. I'll see if I can find/post a scan tonight.

Best,

Scot

Edited to add: I didn't save a back scan but I know this was a TSN and not a blank from my eBay listing title when I sold the card (confirmed by the fact that it doesn't say "BLANK BACK" on the flip).

Have you been able to confirm Zack Wheat with a Standard Biscuit back? The Standard Biscuit set includes Bobby Wallace, who was replaced by Wheat for most other backs. But I've always been curious as to whether Wallace made it all the way through the entire print run for Standard Biscuit.

Thanks for the responses guys--keep 'em coming. I've added a few more to my database now.

Scot, I now remember that Harmon because I almost bought it from you. Any chance you have your old emails from mid-July '10? I have one from you of Harmon but only a front scan. I cannot seem to locate many of my emails from that period.

Kenny, nice Wheat but it's not from the same set that lines up with m101-4/5.

Yes and no Paul. There is a Standard Biscuit Wheat in the PSA pop report that lines up with D350-1/m101-4 (card #188), but none in the reports that lines up with D350-1/m101-5, nor have I a scan of one.

Kenny, your nice Zach Wheat card is part of the 1917 Standard Biscuit issue which is referred to as the D350-2 set. Here's a link to the Old Cardboard Magazine's comparison info for the 3 Standard Biscuit sets: http://www.oldcardboard.com/d/d350/d...?cardsetID=994

Todd, Yes, you are right that we had an email or PM discussion about Harmon way back when. Unfortunately I don't have any emails pre-2011 when my former PC crashed. I'm confident it was a TSN back since I wouldn't have advertised it as such in an eBay listing if it were blank. Best, Scot

Hi Todd,
I just sent you a "regular" email (not thru Net54) with scans of my D329 Weil Baking cards of Joe Judge & Walter Johnson.

In this email, I also listed the other M101-4/5 related cards that I currently have plus the 39 Indy Brewing cards I had once upon a time and still have scans of. LMK if you need scans of any of these cards.
Best,
Val

Thanks for all the work on M101-4/5 Todd!

Here is a Merkle SN

My only others are Eddie Collins Standard Biscuit #33, Max Carey Globe Clothing #28, Rabbit Maranville F&B #109. I didn't read your first post closely enough before I scanned the Merkle, so if you need scans of the others let me know.

Happy New Year!

Thanks again guys. As I told someone privately, I am a scan hoarder of these m101s, and will take whatever you are willing to send/post. Even if I have confirmed the existence of certain subjects, I welcome "doubles" to help with my own understanding of populations. In fact, even if I have your particular card, I don't mind a better scan--this often happens when all I have is spotty scans from ebay or an auction house that is selling by lot so that individual cards are hard to make out. Raw cards especially welcome, as they fly under the radar of the pop reports and thus can help confirm subjects. IOW, all scans accepted and appreciated (any back story as well).

Dennis, I know it sounds silly, but I would like to see corresponding scans for the backs of your blanks. Often there are are little nicks, light spots, marks, discoloration etc that help me track the card better if I ever see it down the road. BTW, I'm finally starting to see a pattern in what you've provided--all Chicago players. Nice.

As an example of how ridiculously absorbed I am in these sets, here are two Joe Connolly's with a noticeable print mark in the lower right corner, which seem to exist only on Famous & Barr and Morehouse Baking versions, not the Altoona Tribune, Blank, Everybody's, Gimbels, Globe, Indy Brewing, Standard Biscuit and Ware's cards I have scanned. This suggests that this flaw was found only in m101-5.
