Where are the Joseph Hall Cabinets?

I was just thinking about the hobby and it dawned on me that it has been quite a number of years since a Joseph Hall cabinet has been up for sale. When I was actively collecting 19th century cards and photos, Joseph Halls were the holy grail.

They were always quite scarce but came up for sale periodically. I guess nobody is parting with them anymore.

They must be buying them privately, because they haven't appeared in catalog auctions.

I thought Heritage had auctioned off several in the last 2-3 years if memory serves. I could be wrong though.

I don't recall that. And I should have been more specific and said it's the team ones, and not the single player portraits, that are so desirable.

Hunt auctioned a whole set of them that'd been recently found.

That was the last, and of course the largest, hoard of them that I remember. After that they pretty much dried up.
