I am new to the preWWII card game, and I wanted some opinions on my first purchase. I bought the following card for about $450; I know its altered in some way, but I bought it because of the great presentation. Would love some opinions!

It's probably trimmed. If you're happy with it then that's all that matters. It's probably real if GAI encapsulated it.

I got it off ebay, with several other vintage dealers bidding close to what I bid; normally I wouldn't even think of buying a altered card for any where close to $400, but this card presents like a 6 or 7 which makes it worthwhile to me. In terms of value, I was told I got it at about market. Not sure though.

If you call Global and talk to Mike Baker he can tell you why it graded how it did- he told me they have notes on every card they have graded, and should be able to tell you if it was trimmed, recolored, etc.
Beautiful card no matter what, and it looks so much better in a black matte than it would flopping around in a plastic baggie holder.

I think it presents very nicely, its a 19th century HOFer, its a card from a landmark set, the back is damage free. I think you could probably get your 400 out of it any time you want, in the meantime, enjoy owning it .

Nice pick up. Congrads.

People said it was a million dollar wound. But the government must keep that money, cause I ain't never seen a penny of it.
