Default Sam Majors - RIP

I just received a PM informing me that one of our best members and an all around great guy, Sam Majors, passed away on Dec 31,2017. Sam was always jovial and always wanting to help out everyone. RIP my friend. I have to say I have a few tears in my eyes on this one. What a great guy he was.

Incidentally, his last post on this board was a day before he passed away. He was saying your welcome to Mark M. for giving Mark a run of Trader Speaks. That is the kind of guy he was.

I didn't know Sam.
But thanks for your touching words, Leon;
he sounds like a collector to look up to,
like someone who made our world better.

Default Prayers for the family

I talked to Sam a few times via PM's and emails. He was a great guy and a truly knowledgeable collector who was great to give advice and help. May God Bless the family during this time and our prayers go out for comfort and peace.

Found this particularly moving from his obituary:
He enjoyed travelling and attended numerous sports memorabilia shows throughout the U.S. Trading things like baseball cards, boxing gloves and posters seemed to be his way of keeping in touch with people throughout his life. Sam's kind heart and generosity did not go unnoticed. He impacted others by volunteering at a home for underprivileged children in Texas, a homeless shelter in Atlanta and translating documents for Hispanic workers while on the job. Although Sam was a quiet individual, anyone who spoke with him quickly realized his unique intelligence and sense of humor.

Most of all, Sam faithfully loved his family, and expressed it in his own way. Whether it was through a small gift or by making his signature rice crispy treats, his love was always felt. We will miss him.
RIP, Sam.

This one is tough to hear. Sam and I shared a love for Army Football. He would always give me a heads up on auctions and offer me first shot at them. Always a standup guy. This one hurts. RIP Sam.

I bought cards from Sam several times and as recently as 12/18. He was a great guy. Last saw him at the National in Chicago. He will be missed. Wish were more like he was.

I only met Sam through Net54, but I knew him as a good and friendly guy.

Another loss for the Hobby.

Sam...Thank You...You will be remembered.

Very sorry to hear this. I never met Mr Majors, but did a couple transactions with him here. Seemed like a fine man.

Had two BST deals with him: He won a small lot of 52Ts and then privately bought most of the bulk 52s I had left - he was such a pleasure I let him cherry pick. Both times a pleasure and for some reason he always stuck out in my mind. RIP.

Spent 3 hours with him and his nephew at the National this past year. I actually approached him and asked if he was Leon ha. He was a very nice guy and we spoke about Net54 for a while. May he rest in peace.

Net54,
I would like to thank everyone for their warm thoughts and kind words you had to say about my Uncle Sam. He was the same towards family as he was with you all. what you saw is what you got. He took me under his wing and showed me the amazing world of collecting and also introduced me to this site which I'm still getting familiar with. Again thank you all and to all a blessed day.

Omg R.I.P. Sam. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Sam was always a gentleman to me, I picked up many great National Chicle Sky Birds cards from him over the past year.

We lost a real good one in the hobby.

God Speed.
