Default 9 T206 Wagners at one booth

I was re- reading one of my back issues of old cardboard and in it was an
article on the 2004 national that was held in Cleveland that year. With the
article there is a picture of nine T206 Wagner's that were at the Mastro
booth. Pretty impressive considering there are only 46 in the PSA and
SGC pop reports and I think one or two of them are post 2004.

Seeing them all together like that makes you feel like it's really not that rare. Of course, we know better! Here are 40 of them. I suppose if you don't have anything else to do you could try to figure out which ones at the convention are shown in this composite photo.

There looks to be a lot with missing ink. Love the printers marks on the one.

The one with the printers marks is from the "wagner strip"

My guess is that the "missing ink" examples are simply scans of old auction catalogs that simply didn't print in color...

That's a cool picture Pat.

Here is an article from 2002 that shows a collection of known Wagners at that time.

Edited to say this a collection of known Wagner T206's. There were probably more known at the time, just not pictured.

I have one of the posters, and had it framed (the poster visible in the background of the Mastro’s display of Wagner’s).

(None of those are missing color, to my knowledge...just some old images).

That is a funny Mastro comment! I would bet it is more than 9 that have had something done to them to improve their appearance.

This is cool.

Here's a poll for you...which would you rather have, the sillouette (second row down, 3rd from the left) or the one missing 1/3, middle bottom row?

I would rather have the silhouette card. Not sure but hasn't that card been rebuilt to a full card? I remember one that was missing a lot of the card got rebuilt to a full card.

Silhouette for me too. Didn't someone here have a WaJo silhouette like that as his avatar? I wonder if those two cards used to belong to the same collector.

I'd pick the silhouette for sure. That other one looks like about half of a card. I like the one on the bottom cut at a slant. I guess someone did that to it on purpose, but I can't image why.

It's probably a higher percentage of card than the sillouette

You're probably right. However, assuming I was just going to leave it the way it is, I'd like to be able to see all of Wagner's face.

True for Wagner and WaJo alike. If it was Cy Young though...

I have a silhouette wajo. Always thought that'd be cool if it came from the same collection as the Wagner.

Default Wagner Sales History

This link shows the sales history of all the Wagners. They've done their best to number them to see how the prices have changed over the years.

There's also a somewhat updated gallery.

Great post and pictures for those of us not attending the National at that time. Thank you for sharing. Count me as wanting the half card over the silouette.

In the Faces of Wagner from post #10, I used to own the one in the middle row, second from right, with the upper left corner missing. I bought it in 1986 and sold it eighteen months later.

Don't ask.

It's amazing, when looking at all of them together, the level of clarity on the face. Some are extremely washed out.......some are highly detailed. I can't recall another T206 with such a vast difference in clarity/appearance.

Take for instance post # 10...the bottom row...the one on the far left looks completely different than the one on the far right. I know that the answer is that they were printed at different times, but the difference is vast.

I wouldn't have been able to deal with the missing corner either. Good move flipping it

Anyone ever remember seeing a Wagner that had all the background cut away? Just had the portrait left? It seems I remember having an old Beckett vintage years ago and had an article on Wagner’s. I could be wrong but curious as I have never seen it again.

Yep, it's in the picture in post #11. It has a blue background.
