Default T202 Questions

Posted By: Robert

I would appreciate it if someone could answer some questions regarding T202s and specifically regarding some raw T202s I just purchased. One that I purchased raw appears to be in near mint plus conditions. I would think that it is in SGC 86 condition - very clean. However, there is a fold/crease line parallel to the hinged fold line between the center panel and right player panel that is just within the color line of the right player panel. It looks like it was folded only one time at that location. How were the T202s originally folded and placed in the cigarette box? Were both panels folded or only one folded? Did they sometimes misfold the card when they originally put the card in the box. No paint is broken but the "crease" runs from top to bottom? How does this devalue the card. A second card again appears to be in SGC 86 condition but there is a surface crease right down the middle of the center panel running about 40% from the bottom towards the top (back not creased). I would think that this is common with these cards, but do not know how it would be downgraded. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The cards were packed with both flaps folded over. There are many inherited flaws with these cards including creases along the folds, SGC is generous with these if they are close to the fold line. The surface wrinkle on the second card will probably downgrade it to the point that it will not grade higher than a 50. AS far as a grade for the first card it could range from 40 - maybe an 80. If you have scans that would be great.

For "Stone about to Swing" the fold/crease line runs just on the edge of Shulte's right ear all the way from top to bottom (inside the blue panel about 1/8 inch). For "Carrigan Blocks his Man" you can faintly see the center panel crease starting at the bottom of the card. Thanks.

Here is a 3rd raw T202 I purchased - East for Larry. There is a very slight crease/fold line immediately to the side of the hinge line between the center panel and the right panel. There is pink and brown paint bleed surrounding the left panel.

Nice cards, I would recommend removing the cards from those holders in there naked form, you can tell on the corners there is alot of pressure on them and they can sometimes get stuck to the holders, a plastic sleeve around them helps. I would definately send them in to get graded so they are in a nice holder. Tough to find holders for these cards. The printeres line also will detract from the grades. Overall great cards.
