I'm still looking for a ton of '10 and '11 Topps Heritage 3 card salesman samples. They appear on checklists but might not even exist. Unfortunately those are so thinly collected that they are rarely listed.

Default The toughest modern cards you're still looking for...

I have been looking for this card since I started collecting Hideo Nomo back in 1995.
1995 Upper Deck Electric Diamond Gold #226
I have every minor, rookie, 2nd year, and even Japanese cards but still can't find this one. I haven't even ever seen one on eBay, although I have not checked for one there in a while.

That figures, and at a time when I am layed off too. Although it did go for about twice as much as I'd be willing to go. Thanks for the bad news, but at least I know they are out there some where.

I'm hunting these guys down. There should be about 150-200 of each of these printed, but can't seem to find them anywhere.

Anthony- it's strange no checklist for these has surfaced. Maybe start a thread stating what you have here and on CU and ask others to add to it

I'm a "supercollector" of Josh Fogg and the majority of what I'm misssing are 1/1s or printing plates.

However, the other ones that have eluded me for over 12 years are the 2003 Donruss/Leaf Beckett Samples. They were supposed to have been produced and released in the monthly BSCM and marked with the word SAMPLE on the back. There were silver and gold versions and I believe the gold versions were something like 10x harder to get than the silver.

Either way, I've never seen any of the Josh Fogg ones.

I even emailed Chris Olds a couple years ago and he said they probably weren't even made and that the checklist for the sample sets is basically a copy of the original sets and not necessarily a list of the cards that were actually made.

Thanks, Rick

This is a nightmarish set to complete but looks like it would be so worth it. I saw a Brett recently, guy was asking for $750. Good luck!

I finally tracked down a card that took me way too long to find!

The mays is horrible as I have never even seen one. The others are scarce but attainable. The Banks and Brett are the most expensive

The only modern set I have started trying to complete is a 2002 Leaf Certified Samples set. This is a new effort that started when I pulled out a box of Samples I bought in 2002 and thought it would be a fun set to attempt. I have only been going at it for a little over a month.

Default 1990 aqueous lance parrish

I have just about everything for my lance PC that's not a 1/1 except the one that has been evading me for years - 1990 donruss aqueous.

I had to take several years off due to being on disability and in cancer recovery and sold most of my money cards. ( thank god for my collection as it kept my family under a roof) however no lance ever left my home. Unfortunately the only one I have ever seen came up during that time I could not touch it.

If anyone has a lead on that aqueous it would be the final key needed.

Now that I have my health and my life back I would love to have that baby.

Also wanted - 2013 panini hometown heroes 167 lance parrish zip code

I collect mainly vintage cards but have always wanted to get a griffey jr 93 finest refractor. He was my favorite player growing up. It's not that hard to find, just a matter of being willing to spend the money.

I'd love to pick up his 89 upper deck in bgs 10, but can't justify paying for it either when I have a psa 10 already and could never tell the difference other than the holder.

Nothing overly rare or expensive. Just trying to find one in the desired grade and reasonable price:

1976 Hostess Dennis Eckersley
1978 Hostess Eddie Murray
1987 Kahn's Barry Larkin (the card "books" for $10 but a NM one just sold on Ebay for $21.50.)

Al-I've got checklists, although there is some question if they are actual ones or theoretical.
Panels were issued starting in '08.

I noticed that you did not list the 1977 Top Trophies U.L. Washington as a need, so you must have that one. Those are quite hard to track down. Out of curiosity, where did you find it?

Default 1993 Pacific Nolan Ryan Ghostwriting cards

Thanks for sharing all those modern toughies. I knew about quite a few of them, but was unaware of some of the more recent ones. I am amazed at the number of tough modern cards out there.

For me, the toughies that I’m looking for are the 1993 Pacific Nolan Ryan Ghostwriting cards. There are 110 different cards in total numbering from 111-220. Each card has 1 of 10 possible messages on the back that glows in the dark. The messages are all geared towards keeping kids off drugs and alcohol and staying in school.

Below is a list of the 10 different messages listed alphabetically.

1. BE SMART. DON'T START DRUGS OR ALCHOHOL
2. D.A.R.E. TO KEEP KIDS OFF DRUGS
3. DRUGS RUIN DREAMS
4. IN SPORTS DRUGS CAN CAUSE YOU TO MAKE AN ERROR
5. JUST SAY NO
6. SAY NO TO DRUGS
7. STAY IN SCHOOL
8. TO BE A WINNER YOU HAVE TO BE DRUG FREE
9. TO GET THE BEST GRADES, YOU HAVE TO STUDY
10. WINNERS DON'T USE DRUGS

Here is a photo of the front and back of card # 111 with the third photo taken in the dark showing the message, ”D.A.R.E. TO KEEP KIDS OFF DRUGS” on the back.

If anyone has one of these please let me know.

Thanks,
Donato

Interesting, I've never even heard of them. Are the messages specific to the card? So say message 2 is always on card 111?

Were they in packs, or distributed some other way? I can see someone making a public relations issue like some of the police sets by stamping a whole bunch of an existing set.

Default 1993 Pacific Nolan Ryan "Ghostwriting" cards

Hi Steve,

Yes, the messages are specific to the card number. Card #111 will always have "D.A.R.E. TO KEEP KIDS OFF DRUGS".

The cards were issued in foil packs. I have yet to pull one myself in the 1/2 dozen or so boxes that I've opened, but I know someone who has pulled a couple from these boxes. (see box pictured below)

I read somewhere many years ago that according to Mike Cramer, president of Pacific Cards, that there were only 200 of each message printed. That means there would be about 2,000 cards in total numbered from 110 through 220. He also said that not all of them made it into production because the thicker cards kept jamming up the machines, so some were pulled from production. So, I don't think anyone really knows how many are out there.

To date, PSA has graded about 160 "Ghostwriting" cards in total of which 70 are unique card numbers out of the possible 110. That means there are still 40 card numbers of the 110 that have yet to have an example graded by PSA. The card numbers that have been graded are all included in the Nolan Ryan Master set on the PSA Registry. I've only got 13 out of the 70 graded so far, so I have a looooooooong way to go.

If anyone has any other info or leads to these cards I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Donato

Default Never seen one

2005 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Dual Materials Signature Patch Aaron Rowand/Scott Podsednik. There are only 5 of these so I assume I'll never see one but I'll put it out there in just case. There are other versions of this card (autos only, jerseys only and auto jersey) but I am looking for the patch/auto version.

I'll have to check and see if I have any. I'm not even sure I have any of the regular set. Just one of those that slid past me.

Default Looking for a 1982 FBI Schmidt panel

FBI drink panels from Canada are one od the rarest sets of the 1980s. I have the only PSA registry set which consists of PSA 2 - 4s including Brett, Ryan and Rose panels. Can anyone help me out on the Schmidt panel ?

I'm afraid this is not available unless I someday dismantle the Garvey collection, but here is a Rice/Garvey panel

Default FBI Discs

ArmourPhil, That will not be an easy set to complete. Good luck with your search.

I agree, these FBI discs are really tough. I have seen a few of the 1982 FBI discs, but I have not seen too many from 1981. I am looking for this Ryan/Bosetti FBI Panel pictured below. It's not a great photo, but it is the only photo I have seen of this panel. Any info leading to one would be appreciated and also compensated if I make the purchase.

Thanks,
Donato
