Help with identifying photos, please

Gentlemen,

I have 3 old photos I've been fretting about. None are related, and one is momentarily misplaced, so I'll post it another day.

The first is a team photo. A guy on the front row has a shirt with Providence on it, and I guess that fancy letter might be a P. Which Providence team? When?? Anyone recognize a player in there??? That black line at the top and left is drawn on there with ink, I think. Maybe this was used for some publication at some point in time...



Next is a lean ballplayer with "Cannery" on his shirt. I'd have guessed that was a west coast semi-pro team, but for the back of the photo. Nina's Newport Tenn. Newport had a team with the Appalachian League from about 1937 to early in 1942, and a team from 1948 - 1950 in the Mountain States League, or something like that. Anyone recognize the player, the jersey, the grandstands???? Anyone heard of Nina's or seen it on other baseball photos?

Hey Tom,

Got done at 8pm in my "other" county, drove to home town and went to the funeral home for a classmate. Guess I'm getting old. And then got home for what was left of supper about 9pm... I guess I might as well work in NYC and commute home for 3 hours after work... I feel like I need soaking. I'm mired down with scrapbook paper here and there.

Recognize anything about these photos, wise old man??

Can you make out the logo on the sleeve of the player seated on the right? It looks like "JH" or some such.
