Default June Pickups

Just starting collecting vintage "playing days" autographs from my childhood heroes. Picked up below Willie Mays this week from Net 54 Scott Forrest.
He was extremely helpful with this acquisition and very fair price as well.
Shout out to Jim Stinson who is also always helpful in answering questions and willing to offer his expert advice as well. Thanks to both of you !!

Default June pickups

I was recently able to pick up a couple of nice vintage signed items that will be a nice fit for my no-hitter collection:

From the net54 BST, 1938 vintage signed snapshot of Johnny "Double No-Hit" Vander Meer. The one year uniform style makes it easy to narrow down the year it was taken.
FWIW, I suspect that this photo was possibly taken on the Reds road trip to Pittsburgh in early July, 1938, just after Vander Meer hurled his back-to-back no-hitters in June of '38.

From eBay, a vintage signed Rex Barney 1949 Bowman baseball card. On September 9, 1948 Rex Barney no-hit the visiting NY Giants 2-0.

Love adding these fountain pen sigs to my personal collection!

Default Have to make room for June arrivals

Two awesome items for my Joe Torre collection. First to arrive is a 1960 Milwaukee Braves team signed ball. Torre only appeared in 2 games for the Braves in 1960, so this one made me very excited. I have seen a few 1960 Braves baseballs, but this is the first time I have seen Torre.
Oh yeah, it was also signed by some guys named Aaron, Spahn, and Mathews. And, as a bonus, the ball was also signed by Carl Willey, who is one of my Maine guys!

Next to arrive is this 1976 New York Mets team signed ball with Joe Torre!
Oh yeah, and also Willie Mays and some pitcher named Seaver is on it. But it is ok, they don't detract from the Joe signature.

I think I might have to ease off for a while, because the GF gave me the "eyebrow" when I brought in the mail.

Why is Whiten's signature so poor on that ball? Is there a substance he signed over?

Yeah, I think whoever started the ball bought it with Seereys signature and a few others. They used whiteout or something to cover up the unwanted autographs. Whiten signed over that area so it is a bit smudged. I was aware of the coverup and I really don't care because it's rare to see a ball with Seerey on it anyway. I have a couple other 4 HR game balls but they didn't have Seerey, So when I saw this one I snagged it.

as for Hamilton, I needed him on my other balls as well but at the time I was getting them signed Hamilton was in superstar mode and they were charging a ton for him. I decided to wait until he came back to earth. Now he's out again.

They are still a blast to see.
They tore the walls off Madison Sq Garden at a benefit show a few years ago.
And they were still great at Forest Hills Stadium last year.
That is so cool Jon, being handed that signed sign by Entwhistle, very cool.
