Default T206 Lithography

Posted By: blackborder

I just started collecting T206's and wondered if it's just me or is the lithography on the 150 series portraits much better(more photographic-like) than the 350 or 460 series?

I've heard that being said, and it seemed like a legitimate hypothesis when a bunch of T206 Planks were posted side-by-side on this board. However, I have some SC 350s that look cherry, in terms of color and lithography. It might have something to do with the plates.

That's one of the genius things that Andy Warhol taught us... his assemblyline use of image plates for the process showed clearly that the original image alters slightly each time it is silkscreened. He did that by placing four or five of the same image of Elvis or Marilyn Monroe next to eachother on the same canvas. Now with the internet, we can post ten, fifteen, twenty versions of any one T206 card in a few minutes and make a decent hypothesis based on how the fronts match up with the backs.
