Wow what a great seller.

He takes returns

Makes purchasing easy and stress free

And only charges a small return fee of 50%

Bid with confidence

I've been reporting all of this seller's listings to eBay for the past few days, but looks like they're all still up.

I am not saying it is right

But

Part of me is not surprised that ebay most likely going to do nothing.

Because technically this seller is being upfront and advising what he does and how he does it.

So if a buyer buys from him it is on them since the seller spelled everything out

I have handled quite a few fakes and real ones ... One major tell is the way the backs look. They look like they were soaked in coffee or something.

Huh? This is his description:

"The majority of our cards are bought and sold 'raw' which means they are not graded. Since they are not graded, there will be differing opinions on condition, and we cannot guarantee complete authenticity. However, our products are always sourced from reputable sellers/dealers."

All of his cards are very clear fakes. Not even close. He knows they are all fake, but he gives a bullshit description/disclaimer that implies they are real and which violates eBay's terms. How is he "being upfront and advising what he does and how he does it?" If he were being upfront, he would tell everyone that he makes fake cards and then sells them as possibly real.

He currently has 396 listings on eBay. They are all fake cards.

You are 100% right and he says it right there that it is fake (but in his own words)
So he is being upfront and saying “buy at your own risk” and he is saying he is keeping 50% of your money if you return cards.
So he is clearly warning people what he is doing and how

But it is up to the buyers to be aware because he is being upfront about his
Terms and conditions

It sucks and he sucks but he is telling you sucks and telling you if you want to buy from him It’s on the buyer.

He is being an honest thief.

That is almost the exact opposite of what he is saying.

He says he sources from reputable dealers and sellers. This implies that they are real. He says there may be differing opinions on authenticity simply because the cards are raw.

There are posters on this very thread who can't tell whether the cards are real or not, even with the description he gives that you believe makes clear that they are fake.

Well I Guess we each read it differently.
I read it that he sells items, most not graded, he is saying no one can agree on the opinions of the cards and he cannot guarentee they are authentic.
All of that says to me he is selling everything as is and thus leaves it up to the buyer to guess.
He also says he is charging a 50% Restocking fee,
Which means to me it is buyer beware because I am keeping half your money.

Him saying his suppliers are reputable means nothing. Because he does not say what his sourcing is or what makes them reputable or what the standard is

So each person can read it the way they read it.

The title of the auction is patently false.

I think ebay finally restricted this person's account.
He had several auctions up which were obviously fake. I was reporting him a couple days ago. Now when you click on any of these listings below you get an error page on ebay.
Good! These people need to be turned over to the cops for selling forgeries as being legit. This is intentional and criminal.

Well, whenever something looks too good to be true, it is, always. These would be a most excellent little set, if only...

Good News that Ebay took action and restricted them

its ebay......99.999% of the time they side with buyers.

plus since they are fakes the seller has a good chance of getting the boot.

I clicked on his sold items, and 30 plus showed up. So I'm not sure that eBay has restricted him. Hopefully all those sales will be voided and everybody will get their money back.

It seems a bit convoluted to me that Ebay throws a hand grenade at PWCC but let this suck and others like him get away with deception.

Default Questions

Some questions about these George H. Ruth Candy Company cards, if anyone is still paying attention to this thread. Perhaps this could become another separate thread for discussion if there is any interest. I found these cards as the subject of several long-ago threads here at net54, but several questions worth bringing up after several years come to mind:

Has anyone seen, know of, etc., one of the redeemed, signed baseballs?

Card reverses say, "a baseball with Babe Ruth's actual signature on it." Stamped, or a ball actually autographed in pen by him?

Who was the candy company that Ruth affixed his name to? A start-up, or a pre-existing company? Was Ruth being managed by Christy Walsh in 1928? From what little I have been able to find, the candy bars were chocolate covered peanuts and caramel/nougat much like the Baby Ruth bars of today. Which, by the way, everyone says were in no way named after Babe Ruth.

Were the candy bar wrappers that turned up in the 1980s real, or just more fakes?

He's not in a Yankees uniform in any of the photos. Why is Ruth wearing LA and what appears to be Giants (with the Giants-looking "New York" lettering) uniforms? Licensing?
