Default T210 Jackson, New Orleans ?

Guys - Need some help with a name on a T210 that I recently purchased. See scan below of Carlton Molesworth from Birmingham. I needed this card for a hole in my collection, and upon looking under a loop with a novice eye and questionable vision, I noticed that New Orleans was at the top (I think!?!). From there I looked at the 11 name possibilities from New Orleans and I have narrowed it down to Breitenstein & Jackson. (It appears the letter next to the comma is identical to the letter on the other side of the comma which looks like an "N") Now, of course, I could be completely be off my rocker and confused, so I am hoping I can toss this scan to some of you guys that are much smarter than me and help solve this mini mystery. If you would like me to email you this scan so you can magnify, I will be pleased to do so. I will also say, that from a simple scan it will not look like much of anything, but under a loop the pieces come together much easier. I think the team name is pretty easy to discern, but due to the cut, the name is a little more challenging. Again, I am not sure at all of anything, but have tried to be objective in figuring out who the player name is on the top of this card. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jeremy

Possible Names :

RobertSON !
JackSON ?
BREITENSTEIN, NEW ORLEANS
CAFALU, NEW ORLEANS
MAXWELL, NEW ORLEANS
LINDSAY, NEW ORLEANSLA FITTE, NEW ORLEANS
FOSTER, NEW ORLEANSBROOKS, NEW ORLEANS
HESS, NEW ORLEANS
DE MONTREVILLE, NEW ORLEANS
E. DE MONTREVILLE, NEW ORLEANS

What's Jackson got to do with it?

Looks like Robertson to me. He's New Orleans too.

And I've got to say that's one very nice card!

Default Robertson it is...

Steve - Thank you very much ! I have been racking my brain trying to figure out why the first letter was off or missing ink, but thought perhaps the ink run or flaking may have pushed that first letter off or partial... Of course RobertSON and JackSON both end in "SON" so that is why I got thrown off the scent. Also, I obviously left one very important player off my list of 11, which is now 12 New Orleans players! I should have just posted it right away instead of fumbling through for 30 minutes trying to figure it out.

Many Thanks ! JJ

Now the Joe Jackson would have been amazing but still an outstanding card!

Default T210

Thanks for the props on Moles fellas... You know, let's just suppose Joe's name would have been on the top, I am curious if this would increase the value and by how much ? I realize to most collector's it would not mean much, but with all the specialists out there who collect Freaks, miscuts, etc. I wonder if this would be worth a few more coins to them ? A step further, lets suppose Goodwin is auctioning this Molesworth, and SGC has slabbed it with Jackson (miscut name) on the slab. Would that make the card worthy of a price above say $200 ? I suppose this would be the closest most collector's would ever come to owning a Joe.

Id say it would be worth more if it was a Jackson, same if you found a T206 with Plank on the top.

Although I do not think it is.

Default Thanks !

Chris - Thanks for the input... This Moles in this condition is normally around $200. What would you guestimate the value be if Jackson was at the top ? I am assuming more than 1 person would have interest thus chasing the price up a little bit... I am guessing the range would be anywhere from $300-$750. Just a wild guess. Perhaps even higher...

By the way, Steve was able to help me last night with the name Robertson. I had looked under New Orleans name possibilities and came up with 11, leaving out the 12th N.O. player, Robertson. (If I would have had that name on the list, I would have discerned pretty easily, but I kept bouncing between Breitenstein and JackSON....

Thanks for the scan compare - That is telling

Is Molesworth a series 8 T210? If not, then wouldn't that fact in and of itself eliminate the posibiliity the top card was Jackson?

Yes Molesworth is in series 8. Joe Jackson is also a Series 8 card as are all New Orleans players in the set. There are 2 Jacksons in series 2 and one in series 5, but none of these 3 Jacksons are Joe.

Totally unrelated but I noticed Jeremy mentioned de Montreville and E. de Montreville, two separate cards in series 8, both New Orleans. I have never seen the E. de Montreville. Are the poses identical with just a printing difference or are these two separate players or what??? Can someone post a scan of Mr. E?

Default E. Demontreville

E. DeMontreville - Another super tough card from series 8. I have seen more of the other over the years than this one. I would say like 4 to 1 more...
