I saw a similar pin on Ebay a few weeks ago but that one had Fort Worth Next on it and the seller described it as railroad related.

I knew I'd seen this pinback before...Jonsstats sold one a month ago as a Philadelphia Athletics pin...which makes no sense since they never played one another in the World Series.

here's a link to the auction.

I'm fairly confident these types of pins are not baseball related, but they may be sports related. I think these pins were given out at national conventions, promoting the location of the following year's location. The cities named on these pins were all "convention towns" in their day. I have seen the most pins citing Buffalo, which was an extremely popular convention city back then. These pins promoted something that had a fixed schedule. The only significant sport that I know of that operated in such a way was bowling. Bowling was very popular then, with a national tournament (American Bowling Congress), as well as regional and state tournaments. Then again, maybe these pins have nothing to do with bowling at all.

If you like trivia, here is one from bowling. There is a long-standing organization called the "WBA" that was founded in the late 1920s. I believe it is still in existence today. This was a national bowling association for women. There was a debate within the association as to what the "W" should stand for. The members were divided. Some favored "Woman's Bowling Association", while others wanted "Women's". There was even some support for dropping the apostrophe. This issue must have been a hot button for the ladies, because it was formally debated at their national convention every year for over a DECADE! How would you like to have been the Recording Secretary at those meetings?
