Default Baseball Exhibit

Posted By: ErikV.

All,

For those in the SoCal area, the Natural History Museum located in Los Angeles currently has an excellent baseball exhibit on display. The touring exhibit, entitled "Baseball as America" has over 500 artifacts on loan from the Baseball Hall of Fame. I have never been to the Hall, so having it come to town was a must see. A few of my favorite items on display was the T206 (ungraded) Honus Wagner card (donated to the Hall by Barry Halper), Jackie Robinson's rookie uniform, Babe Ruth's bat used to hit his 60th homerun, Shoeless Joe Jackson's cleats and the ball that was salvaged from the World Trade Center. The only drawback was no photography equiptment was allowed.

The exhibit runs until December 15th. Admission is $8.00, but is well worth it. More information can be obtained from www.NHM.org.

Regards,

ErikV.

The baseball exhibit was great - everything from Doubleday's 1839 baseball to Glaus's World Series bat. 500 different items from Cooperstown are on display - including an 1880's fielder's glove, Ruth's (32 HR) notched bat, Cobb's cleats, and a number of nice baseball cards.

The T206 Wagner's W & A looked funny, like someone wrote them in. If anyone sees the exhibit, I'ld like to hear your opinion.

If you live near LA, you have another month to check it out. If not, the exhibit is travelling to 6 more cities - check out the schedule: http://www.baseballasamerica.org/schedule.htm
