I know who the winner is of this item. Congrats to him...I watched it go and would have bid if some other items hadn't popped up minutes before this was set to end.

I don't recognize anyone, but I'm sure the winner has already done his homework. Maybe he'll chime in.

But it is a great photo.

Deleted my estimate of the year it was issued as too early. 1870 seems about right.

Dan is giving me too much credit. I bought it, but dont really have much to add. I think the date is right, about 1868-72 or so and although some of the players look to be pre-20's, the guy in the middle has very mature facial hair so it would have to be either a prominant Junior club or a regular club from this area of Pennsylvania. It is doubtful even with research that I can identify the team, but images on CDV photos like this are rare and you cant beat the price.

Rhys- I bet you left a much higher bid and benefited from not having an underbidder challenge you.

Last night I was bidding on ebay for a couple of coins (I collect Large Cents) and I placed two pretty high bids- and won each lot for about 55-60% of that number. There were no serious underbidders, and the coins were a steal, I believe. That is definitely a sign of the times.

I would have cost Rhys another $100, but a few items popped up on ebay just minutes before the CDV ended that are must have for me.
