Don't get the purpose it is only a eBay feed with no search functionality. Why use this and not go direct to eBay?

These are the benefits I had in mind while putting this together:

- Clicking links is easier than typing individual searches
- Organized by issue
- Reprints are filtered out
- Simple gallery filter and sorting
- Maintains filtering and sorting preference throughout visit

Trae,

Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but good work. Since these are some common searches I run anyway (as do a lot of people, I'm sure), this will allow me to do it a little more quickly. I type out my queries by hand right now, simply because I find the eBay 'Favorites' feature a little cumbersome.

Regards,

Richard.

Awesome site.

Great way to do quick searches by set.

Please add 1914 Cracker Jacks to the choices

Bobby - IMO it is simple, intuitive, useful, fast -
and for a first generation of a site app - it is very cool.

Nice job Trae.

Does anyone know who that guy is with the two E90-1 Jacksons and all those other very high priced cards?

Great, Trae, very helpful site. Are you going to include a player search as well? Also, any chance of designing a similar site for post-war cards?

Thanks,

Howard

Barry, on his ebay "about us" page, he asks that checks be made out to Daniel Buell.

Thank you all, I'm glad it's well received.
With your help I can continue improving it.

Richard,
Thank you. I also appreciate your email, I will be responding to it shortly.

Joe D.,
I appreciate it, I have added E145's to the available options for you.

Howard,
Someone else mentioned in a private email they would like a player search as well. Consider it done. I should be able to finish it up tonight. I don't have any plans to do this for modern cards. I like to stick to my interests so I don't get bored.

I think the site is very nice. However, I am not sure how you weed out reprints but the Cracker Jack section is full of them.

Good work and I am sure it will progress well.

James G

Looking for 1915 Cracker Jacks and 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1.

James - the CJ section is full of them because someone has listed a bunch of bad reprints and is trying to pass them off as authentic; I don't think there is an automated way to weed that out.

Trae - the site doesn't work with Firefox/Navigator.

The only way to weed out the reprints is to manually verify the auctions like we do on our site. Maybe what he can do is ignore that seller and that way they don't get in his system. Which is fine if that is all he sells.

Bobby - doesn't your site only monitor graded cards? If Trae's site only did that then he wouldn't have to manually monitor anything.

Matt,

We only do graded cards but still have to weed out all the bad listings. He could do the same for the ungraded cards.Every single listing on our site gets approved and it is not an automatic task at all.

Howard,
I still have the player search on my to-do list.

James,
As Matt said I can't automatically filter those types of auctions out. I'm only filtering out the items that clearly state any of the following in their title:
rp, reprint, reprints, replica, replicas, reproduction, reproductions

Matt,
What do you mean by "doesn't work"? Please advise on your browser version(s) and the problem you're experiencing. It's fine for me in Firefox.

Paul,
Thank you.

It works fine for me in IE but in Navigator 9.0.0.5 (which sits on Firefox 2.0.0.11) no auctions results are displayed - just the selectors at the top.

Thanks, Matt. That's a bummer, as it's fine in my FF 2.0.0.11, although it's not on the list of supported browsers.

"eBay supports the Editor Kit for both Macintosh and Windows in several versions of Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer:

Windows 95, 98, 98SE, ME, NT, 2000, XP
IE 4.0 and all later versions
Netscape 4.0 and all later versions

Macintosh
IE 5.0 and all later versions
Netscape 4.0 and all later versions"

If it's not too much trouble please send a screen capture to trae@t206.org - I appreciate your help.

Hey Trae,
I think this is a pretty neat program you have written. Just like with the banner ads and the new smaller venture specialistauctions.com, I am doing, I always try to have full disclosure on what I do.

Can you tell us exactly what ebay pays you for what you are doing, if anything? I know you love the hobby as much as I do and I certainly have no qualms about folks making money...so please don't take this personally. I am just curious......

thanks much,
leon

Sure thing Leon, no problem.

This should answer your question(s):
http://affiliates.ebay.com/odcs/custom.htm?template=Payout

I use the same setup (Editor Kit) on T206.org and we'll be implementing rover links to generate income with our new 'Blazing Bid' free sniping service that will debut soon. The eBay affiliate program is one of the better ones out there. It's nice to be able to offer value added services at no cost to the user, and still generate enough money to keep the boat afloat.

Very nice and good idea.

Thank you, Marty. Unfortunately I haven't been able to put together a bookmark script that is cross browser compatible. I would like to target Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. Are you aware of one? I appreciate your suggestion.

Thanks for your openness on this issue. Again, I for one, have no issue with folks making money. I am a millionaire from the banner ads on Net54....just ask my critics.

Leon,

Shouldn't a link to a current auction be posted in the appropriate BST category?

Absolutely.....unless I am spamming .....actually, since I was talking about the subject of making money and illustrating that point, I figured it was on topic.....There are many, many links put in the main forum, within posts, and unless they are blatantly abusive I let them go. I take each situation on a case by case basis and I have to follow the same rules as everyone else.....You won't see me adding that link to every post I do...as some members do.

Trae,

Not sure you are familiar with this but adding a snipe service with ROVER links is against affiliate rules and not allowed. So to save you some time doing that you may want to check before you do the work. CJ has no problems with this but you need to get permission before you do this or they will shut you down. Being part of this program I am very familiar with it and have been trying to get permission myself and it has not been easy.

Trae,

I am confused you stated to Leon you are using the affiliate program to generate your revenue by adding it to your bidblaster program. How are you not violating the terms of agreement with eBay?

Bobby,

You're welcome to sign up for the site and analyze for yourself the affiliate methods being used once we've launched. The bottom line is we're not going to violate the TOS. I'm not going to discuss this with you any further.

I appreciate it, Marty. However that doesn't work in IE or FF as it's calling a javascript function I don't have the source code for.

Please email me if you come up with anything:

Marty, I ended up finding a decent script, have a look when you get a chance - it's under the sort dropdown. In Safari and FF it simply requests the user press the keyboard shortcut to add a favorite. Thanks again for your help though!

Marty, I would really appreciate that!

Leon, this will be the only time I bump this thread. I just wanted to note that I finally got time to add a feature that was requested, custom (player) search.

You may now search eBay on your own by using the text input titled "Search eBay" in the header, on the left hand side.

http://www.prewarauctions.com

It will still filter reprints from your search that have the words 'reprint', 'reprints', or 'rp' in the title.

Thanks
