Default PSA question, Cracker Jack

Hi all. So...If I have a 1914 Cracker Jack Card in old psa slab..would they reslab in same grade? As you know, psa is much tougher in grading then in past. Would love your thoughts or advice.

Send it in. They will put it in a new slab for their reslabbing fee. The only time they might fuss with the card condition is if the slab was damaged, which might have caused damage to the card inside.

If PSA were to lower the grade (for a card in an old pristine PSA holder) wouldn't that make them responsible for the difference in value between the original holder grade and the reassessed grade? It was PSA's misjudgment the first time around.

It would just be a cross-over if it were SGC to PSA and then PSA would probably scrutinize it a bit more. If the grade were lowered by PSA, then that's just the way it is.

I have done this many times with no problem. Just pay the reslab fee and they put it in a new slab and nothing changes. Same grade, same cert number. The comment about a damaged slab is correct, but even then unless the damage to the slab also damaged the card, the grade stays the same.

Fred's comment about crossing over from SGC is also spot on. I've done a handful of those and only once have they not downgraded it. I think they just want to show they have tougher standards. One time I crossed an SGC 5, it came back as PSA 3.5. It was so obviously undergraded that I cracked it out and resubmitted it raw, and they graded it a 5.
