Here is an interseting article discussing how to make sure that the banks dont declare your safety deposit box abandoned and sell off its contents. Apparently it is more common than one would believe.

Thanks so much for the link. Although I was pretty sure that I searched such things in the past, a quick search today on the PA state database indicates that there are six or more accounts out there with non-zero values that were probably abandoned somehow from my grandfathers and great-grandparents' estates.
