Default Not mine anymore, but I thought I would share

I had to sell some stuff to raise funds for my divorce - this was one of the items to go. It is a store model glove that got the "gold glove treatment". I have never seen another. I feel better knowing it is in a good home! Hey Mark - another item for your Brooks want list!

I know I’ve never seen the Clemente/Brooks “gold” glove before. Pretty cool item; may be a one of a kind piece. I’ll snag the pic and save for future reference.

Day 227

I have no idea where this next item was distributed, but I believe it is definitely period from 1973. It is on heavy paper stock and measures roughly 9 x 12.

Wouldn't that be later? Whitey Ford & Mickey Mantle 1974, Ralph Kiner 1975 and Ernie Banks 1977 are on it.

Yes, I guess so, I only focused on Roberto and since he was on the end, I assumed he was the last player added, so I dated it 1973.

I will change it to 1977 at the earliest.

Thanks rats!

Day 229

1977 (or later) Hall of Fame Pennant (Green)...

***There is also a red version of this pennant that I will eventually try to add to the collection. Those are the only three colors that I have seen. If anyone can accurately date the year of issue, please let me know.

1973 Memorial Sheet...

Mike, I picked up one of these from the Clemente Family Collection during the National. I recently came across a seller who was disassembling a scrapbook originating from Puerto Rico. I purchased the spanish version from him. The lot included newspaper clippings which served to illuminate this items origin. Apparently they were given out to attendees of the public memorial at Hiram Bithorn Stadium for Clemente and the others who lost thier lives on that mission of mercy. The Arch Bishop of San Juan said that Clemente was destined to die on a mission of love and that the life of Clemente had become a bonfire for Puerto Ricans. He claimed the ocean is the best grave for such a beloved universal figure.

Default Awesome story Mike!

I have the English version. I've not seen the Spanish version before. Super cool and even cooler to know the origin! Thanks for sharing

Mike,

That Spanish version is great! Like Howard, another I’ve never seen before. It’s great that there are items we’ve never seen before still popping up in this thread.

Was it from SS collectors?
