Default Need Help Identifying St. Louis Browns Tag

I recently picked up this St. Louis Browns piece. It was described as possibly being a tobacco tag from the early 1900's.
I tried googling this to get more info but came up with nothing.

Does anyone have more details on what this actually is.

Thanks!

A page from Ted Hake's Guide to Non-Paper Sports Collectibles and a pic of some others. I have a yellow and a white that both read GIANTS, over N.Y. Nat. I also have a yellow that reads GIANTS, over New York Nat. I never understood how you would wear these without ruining your shirt of whatever. Ted says "1930s," I believe 1940s are also a possibility.

The Standard Catalog lists them as 1938, with origin unknown.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I think that the AH who sold these needs to come on the Net54 board a little more often so that they can learn a thing or two. They said early 1900's tobacco tags.

I remember reading somewhere that these may have been intended to be fastened over the buttons on top of caps. Not sure if that was just speculation, but it's an interesting thought.

By the way, some call the button on top of a cap a "squatchee" or a "squatcho." Fun facts. https://uni-watch.com/2015/11/18/squ...investigation/
