Default T206 Value Estimator is in Beta Release

Posted By: Trae R.

Please have a look, and try it out, please let me know what you think. I'd like to know areas for improvement etc. This is just the start, and I welcome any ideas. The values listed do take into account the special/standard values for the back multiplier also as shown on T206Museum.com.

Have at it:

Thank you

Great job Trae. One price that I would say is way off is Cicotte. It's priced too low. Probably some others that could use wome tweaking but I like the general idea. It would be great if you could make changes to the prices somehow with actual sales results taken into account. You are to be commended for all your hard work on this.

Thanks everyone.

Chris, if board members were willing to take the time to forward me price updates I would be happy to keep up with them in making those updates to the database. I appreciate the input! For starters, what is an agreeable price for the Cicotte?

Trae great job. It's good to know that the PSA8 Honus Wagner w/ Drum back that I'm busy creating in my kitchen w/ an old reprint, a pack of Camel Lights and some sandpaper would be worth about $100,000,000! BY the look of some past eBay auctions, I could probably get someone to bite. Seriously though, great job on the site.

That's nothin'. You should try the Wagner in PSA 10 with a Drum back. More costly than the GNP of some small nations.

Laugh out Loud - see it can be used for novelty also. The first thing I did to test that bad boy was a Broadleaf 460 Wagner GM-MT 10!

Somewhere between $50-$60 for Cicotte in VG. I also think some of the PSA multipliers are more for certain cards. Many of the PSA 4 Sl'ers have been going for $125-$150 lately.

Thanks, Chris. Is anyone willing to help as a collective put together a better formulae for valuation, and keeping the prices updated? I don't know that I myself would be knowledgeable enough to maintain the accurate prices without help from some of you.

Hi Trae,
I'll be happy to help. I track most of the T206's sold on EBAY and through the major auction houses, especially any with rare backs. lmk Brian

Now let's make a slight adjustment so that your tobacco card knowledge is not questionable.

The Doyle.
Slow Joe Doyle was NOT a member of the NL New York Giants.
He was a member of the AL New York Highlanders.

I find it appropriately interesting that 96 years later the understandable confusion of having two Doyle's in NYC representing both teams would still be a cause for some confusion.
Then again, on the brighter side, if we didn't have the confusion, we wouldn't have the error that created The Big One.

Again, a great job.
Joe

Brian, I definitely would love to coordinate with you to make the market values as accurate as possible.

Joe, thank you as well. I did not come up with any of this data myself, all from Lee Behrens checklist, and T206Museum.com. I however have presented it, so I will take responsibility for any errors and I greatly appreciate the corrections anyone is willing to spend time to tell me about. I will make some updates tonight!

Thanks Joe, quick question, should all of the "NY Giants" players actually be "NY Highlanders" or only the Doyle card?

Much appreciated!

Just to make sure we're on the same page.
In 1909 when the T206 set was first issued, NYC had two teams that represented New York in their name.
In the National League, the senior league (1883 - 1957), we had the New York Giants.
On that team we had a second baseman Larry Doyle, he was the better known Doyle of the two, played from 1907 to 1920 - mostly with the Giants.

In the American League, junior circuit (1903 -), we had the New York Highlanders later to become the Yankees.
The name derivative to the fact that their playing field was located at one of the highest levels from sea level in New York City, an area called Washington Heights.
It was called Hilltop Park 1903 - 1912.
Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center now occupies the area.
There's a marker in the shape of home plate, in the exact location of home plate at Hilltop Park.
It can be found in a little park next to the Medical Center.
On the 1909 Highlander team we find Slow Joe Doyle, a twerler, that as I understand it, would drive enemy batters to distraction.
He would drive batters like Ty Cobb sane with his deliberation.
Time meant nothing to Slow Joe Doyle.
As far as he was concerned, he had all the time in the world, so he let it tick by, and in turn would tick off the big batters into going over the edge and swing at anything in desperation.
.... And that my friends, included the great Cobb.
Chesbro, a team mate of Slow Joe, had the highest regards for him. ..... you can look it up.
Slow Joe played from 1906 to 1910 arm trouble.
Rumor has it that Ty Cobb payed a witch doctor to stick pins in a dolls arm.

So there you have the saga of the TWO Doyles of the TWO New York teams.

.... and then we have the Brooklyn Trolley Dodger Bums. .... that's another story.

Joe

I must defend myself on the Doyle issue. The team designations I have on the checklist is what is on the card not the same as the facts. Joe seems to be the facts man.

I have put the T206 estimator to use:

"The estimated value for a T206 Honus Wagner(Portrait) with a grade of PSA - 10 (GEM MINT) and Ty Cobb back is: $93,750,000"

I shall begin my quest...

I suspect that for the other cards I am interested in (rounded corner commons with hopefully no creases obliterating the faces), this will be very helpful.

Max

Nifty tool...BUT. I don't really agree with the pricing. My Chase Black hat throwing with red hindu back is worth more than my Brown, Chicago on shirt w/red hindu back??? I don't get it! The values for rare backs in general don't seem true to market values!

yes...I just double checked and according to the value estimator, the chase is a$35 card whereas the brown is listed at$65. Then adding the red hindu multiplier, the chase is worth more. Something is amiss!

As mentioned above I would greatly appreciate regular input to keep this baby as up-to-date as possible with true market value. Anyone wishing to be so kind as to help delegate this task would be a champ for all of us T206 junkies.

As a matter of fact, I'd hook ya up with a free hosting account if you were willing to side-kick with me on this project with market value updates. 'You' being anyone willing to donate their time and wisdom to the project.

somehow. See if I can find it again...

Got it! It was a Gem Mint (PSA) Wagner with a Broad Leaf back, for $2,812,500,000! The Wagner with a Ty Cobb Back isn't NEARLY as much (under a billion). Hee. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that there's some slim possibility of finding a Wagner with a Braodleaf, but it's pretty much conceded that only Ty Cobb comes with the Cobb back.

I got a T206 PSA 4 Lena Blackburn Carolina Brights for $170. The value estimator listed the card at $250 with the grade and back premium. What an easy and cool tool to use!! Thanks again!!!
