I put mine in 4mil mylar sleeves and then in itoya books. This allows me to flip through them, but I can easily take them out to view the back without handling the photo itself

That’s a good idea. Where do you source your Mylar sleeves?

I use Mylites 4 for my photos. 4 represents the thickness as they also have Mylites 2 which are 2mm thick.

I get mine on ebay mostly. I use 2 different sizes for larger and smaller photos.
Here is the ebay search I use

What’s the difference between Mylar sleeves? and the ultra pro 8x10 sleeves?

Also, is it better to lay photos flat (laying down) or upright? (Vertical or horizontal)

Thanks

Ideally you want the photos laying flat and stacked in a box. That’s the ideal situation for preservation anyway but not necessarily for viewing regularly. In terms of Mylar storage, try a google search for “Mylar vs. poly” and you’ll find lots of great info.

I use mylar sleeves, inside of Ultro pro pages (which I trim on the top and on the binder holes side) THEN I but them in Itoya albums without the backing paper.

That way I can see the back.
