Default 1939 Father & Son Shoes cards question/variation???

Hi Guys:

I am sure not many of you collect the '39 Father and Son Shoes set that has Phillies and A's players.

But for those of you who do, or have a single example could you help me out with a question?

I just picked up two of them and they are different from the others I have. Namely they have a stamp on the back from a specific store. See below. All of my others are blank backed.

My old copy of the SCD Standard Catalog lists them as blank backed.

Anyone else have any with a stamp on the back?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Fred

We never saw many of the Father/Son Shoes cards when I was working on
the catalog, and never saw any with the stamp on back. Could have been
unique to that store.

Thanks Bob and Glyn!

Glyn what player do you have in the Father and Son's?

I see Levi has a blank back on ebay:

I have 1 now and have owned around 25 of them in total through the years. None ever had that stamp. Very neat. Gantenbein seems to be the most common player from the scarce set. A stamped back doesn't surprise me at all though as many businesses did that back in the day.

What surprises me is why they are not ALL stamped w/ the name of the particular store that gave them out!

Fred, I have never seen one of these with a back stamp - nice pickups! Here's my blank-backed, type-card example:

Default Different back stamp

Hi Guys:

A friend sent along a scan of two cards he has. One has the same back stamp as mine while the other has a stamp from a different store.

There must be more out there.

Anyone have a Mueller from the set? Blank back or stamped backed? If so PLEASE post a photo/scan of the card

Thanks,

Fred
