Default Old Baseball Photograph

I posted this photographic image on eBay yesterday and several members recommended that I post it here to get more detailed feedback. One member represented that this is the 1902 Pelican Lake Bearcats baseball team.

I would appreciate feedback as to whether anyone recognizes this image, whether it is rare, and what the estimated value would be. Thank you.

This is fyoung17 from EBay. You might want to show the reverse (if there is anything there) & give the size of your pic.

I'm sure someone will help you out!

Unfortunately, there is nothing on the back of the photograph that would assist in identification. The size of the photograph, which is mounted on stiff cardboard, is 12 x 10 (including the cardboard backing).

Just a small town team...unless there is someone famous in the photograph it's generally a $25-$75 photo. If you can find two people who want it badly it could go for a lot more, but I wouldn't count on it.

If I were you I'd ask the person who said it was the 1902 Pelican Lake Bearcats why he thinks that and if there is some significance to that because I can't find anything related to that team on the internet.

Vlade,
I am no expert by any means, but I did zoom in as close as I could on the catchers mask and it appears to be pre 1910, and with the first masks being produced in I believe 1879, that gives a time era between those two years. In pre 1910, the mask eye frame was more square, where after 1910, the eye frame widened, more like a rectangle. Got info from internet site about Mask history.

I love looking at those bats. They are cool.
You mentioned the size of photo was 12 X 10, including backing, what is the size of just the photo???

http://www.anglican.ca/relationships...s/pelican-lake

In the 1920's there was a Pelican Lake school for Indian children.

I thought Pelican's only lived in the warm climates, but these are both in Canada
I think.

BillyB-The photograph is about 6 x 8 inches.

David W-Pretty sure this is Pelican Lake, Wisconsin, especially since it was purchased in close proximity in the Twin Cities.

Disregard my reference to this possibly being an image of 1902 Pelican Lake Bearcats. The poster on eBay who provided this information was an imposter.

White pelicans, larger than the brown pelicans you see along the Gulf Coast, breed on inland lakes, particularly in western Canada and the upper Midwest. Saw more than 100 white pelicans land on a pond less than 50 yards from me at the National Wildlife Refuge in Merritt Island, FL, two weeks ago. They winter in summer climes.
