Default 1915 Cracker Jack Advertising Poster

I have been working on this reproduction for a few weeks. If anyone can help with additional cards cut out from 1914 or 15 I would like to create the other variations of this poster. Enjoy.

Links to full size pictures.

The full size images are huge and will be slow to load, here are some slightly smaller files:

Please post pictures. Thanks!

A Walter Johnson classic pose opposite Cobb at top would make this unimprovable.

Was there a version of this poster with Johnson? I know of only two other cards, a Baker in Collins place and McGraw in McInnis place. Others?

I also have, from this forum, 4 cards from the 1914 poster.

Truthfully had not thought about selling them. I am looking for a printer to do it right but just started looking. If I get it printed I will get extras and sell at cost. I want authentic with holes and braided string.

Can someone tell me the thickness? Is it exactly the same as the cards?

LOL! I guess they broke pattern with the poster - it's not like the '15 cards.

Thanks! I took time to make as exact a replica as possible - of course working from what little I could find. Couple items of note.

1. The Cracker Jack box is as true to the original box on the poster - my guess it was hand drawn by the printer or artist. If someone will send me a cutout Baker or Collins card, super high resolution - I might be able to improve the box even more. Maranville and Speaker cards with the box printing included would also be great. I just need high resolution. Scanned preferably.

2. I found the printers mark and duplicated it. Only thing I'm not 100% on is the ampersand.

3. Some of the cards pictured are not square or sized exactly like the actual cards, I really focused on these details. The Wagner card is cut up abruptly into the Jackson card - if true to the squared card it should have extended further.

4. The back pattern was not as easy as I thought, but the details are really close for sure, thanks to pictures of the back of some cutout cards I found here on net54.

Not the same as the cards, but if you have a cut out card, that is the thickness.

I'm in if you want to sell, I WANT ONE!!!!!

Ordering my first print today. I will post pictures when I receive it.

Please send or post high res pictures of any cutout cards from the '14 or '15 Advertising Card. Received one PM already, can't wait to get the pictures.

Thanks!

By the way, I replicated this poster last month. Mooney's Giants The Famous Elephant Baseball Team.

Hi Steve,
I picked up the cutout of Walter Johnson pictured below from a dealer at a card show roughly 15-20 years ago. I have long-assumed that it was cut from a Cracker Jack advertising poster and is authentic, but I really don't know. FYI, I don't collect the Cracker Jack sets - rather, I bought it for my WaJo card collection. The size of this cutout is approx. 1.875" x 2.50", and the paper stock is roughly the thickness a typical baseball card, but is much more rigid. Hope this is helpful to you. If you or anyone else can shed more light on this piece, I'll be most appreciative.
Val

Looks like your Johnson was in the equivalent spot as Tris Speaker in the above poster.

Hi Rhett,
Many thanks for taking a close look at my WaJo piece and seeing how it could have been in the same spot as Speaker on a similar poster. I now see that letters on the back appear to match up with Speaker's position on the poster, which I hadn't noticed earlier.
Best,
Val

Also, the Walter Johnson you have is from the 1914 Advertising Card. I am working on a remake of this poster but I have never seen an original. Putting it together from cut out cards. I know the text on the 1914 back differs from the known copy of the '15. I am excited to figure it out. Please keep posting cut out cards.

Default Cutout Cards

I need cutout card scans. Should I start a new thread requesting these or would you all agree this post is sufficient. I have some holes in the 1914 poster and some questions about another 1915 version with Baker. I've searched extensively, don't think I can do more without your help.

Here is a Tinker (front and back). Tinker is at the bottom center on the 1915 poster. I bought this card with some 1914 cutouts. It could be from 1914. However, since the 1914 poster seems to have used different players, my guess is from 1915.

Thanks for the Tinker card. I might be able to confirm 14 or 15, the layout appears to be a little different for the 14.

I got the first one printed, but it was done in glossy - not like the originals. Just a question, would you prefer glossy that displayed well or more like the original, flat finish?

Default First One Printed

Got the first one printed, looks Awesome if I do say so myself. 11 x 14.75. I am only ordering 25 of these and the cost is a little high. I am not trying to make money here but I am going to have over $500 in printing costs, plus I'm proud to say I just bought my first cut out card. I will likely sell them for $25 each, hope that's not too much. If I order 100 my cost goes down per but I don't want to sell these - I just enjoy the process.

Thanks everyone for continuing to send pictures of your cut out cards, there are still several I need to see from the 1914 poster.

Several have asked to have them without holes punched. Unless you ask for them specifically I will NOT punch holes.

Thanks.

Default Shipped Out

Thanks everyone. All are shipped out! Please let me know if you do not receive in a timely manner or if for any reason the package is damaged. USPS from Florida. No holes were punched in any of them.

I thought $25 including shipping was a break-even, but I was a little too conservative, with shipping and packaging I will probably sell any future ones at $40. Plus I had to pay more for printing than I originally estimated so the two halves could be seamed together - thought that was already included. Oh well. I think they look great and I hope everyone is happy. Mine looks sweet on the wall.

Home Run Baker
I am getting 5 printed right now that have Baker in the place of Collins. 6 actually, 1 for me and 5 to sell. If you want one, $40 total. Shipping to Canada an extra $5.

Jim, after your purchase I have 2 left for sale (keeping a few in case any are damaged or lost in transit) - then Monday I will have 5 new posters with the Baker card. Excited to see that one - then next, a 1914 poster. I still need pictures of any cards you have that were cut from an ad poster. If you know of anyone who has these, please have them send pictures. I can be reached at stehog@gmail.com. If the picture is on the web, I have seen it, need scans of cards that are not available through google.

Thanks,
Steve
