Default O/T: Display Cases

I'm working on a Hall of Fame Project - The Cooperstown Collection - with one playing days card for every Hall of Famer. The eventual goal is to display them either in individual wall-hung cases by HoF class, or several classes in one case, still sorted by class.

Are there fireproof (relatively speaking) display cases? If I built them out of wood and used a flame-retardant coating/finish, will those chemicals have long-term negative affects on the cards?

Personally, I like this seller's cases: http://www.ebaystores.com/Factory-Di...y-Cases?_rdc=1.

If there is an acrid odor to the finish on whatever you go with, I might not apply it.

If the frames are the last thing between the fire and the cards Im not sure it would matter at that point. House fires rage at a minimum of 1500 degrees and that plastic would have melted into a mess by then. Im not completely sure, but I would question if it would make any difference in the end.

Home fire protection for display cases is a myth. The only thing you could get for your home that stands a chance in a fire is a safe, which is about as opposite as displaying as you can get.

Thank y'all for the input. Wasn't sure if there were fire proof options.

So when displaying on the wall, I know UV protection is key, but would y'all recommend displaying on a wall?
