Default The mystique of the T206 set's 350/460 series.....Show us your cards

There are 22 regular issue T-brand backs printed on the T206 subjects in the 350/460 Series. Also, there are the Sweet Cap 460, Factory #30 "scraps" (not issued).

460-type backs

. .
.......................... Factory #42 ........................

350-type backs

Circa Spring/Summer of 1910, American Lithographic (ALC) printed their last group (66 subjects) of their SOVEREIGN 350 press runs. ALC printed the backs of these
cards with a pale color of green ink (apple green). Earlier press runs of SOVEREIGN 350 cards (140 subjects) were printed with a darker color of green ink.

Anyhow, 63 of the 66 subjects printed with the apple green backs were subsequently printed with 460 series backs. The Joe Doyle, Simon Nicholls, and Bob Rhoades
cards from this original group of 66 were not printed with 460 series backs, since their Major League careers had ended prior to the 460 series press runs.

Most T206 collectors are very knowledgeable on the various front/back permutations of this set. However, these T206's that were printed with both 350 series backs
and 460 series backs can be quite complicated. Especially the Six Super-Prints which can be found with as many as 24 different backs.

It is always fun to review 350/460 series. And, an additional intent of this thread is to inform T206 collectors who have just started working on their T206 adventure.

Show us your 350/460 series T206 cards. Pictures are always worth at least 1000 words. Especially, your cards with the tougher backs. Perhaps then we'll discover
some new front/back combos. There still remains quite a number of unconfirmed front/back combos in the 350/460 series.

Default The mystique of the T206 set's 350/460 series....let's see some cards

In the SOVEREIGN press runs, American Lithographic printed the Six Super-Prints first with the SOVEREIGN 350 backs. Then re-printed these same
Six Super-Prints with the SOVEREIGN 460 backs. The red Cobb is an example of the beginning of the 350/460 series reproduction......

I thought I actually knew something about T206's until I read through all your posts. So informative. This is excellent.

Cobb's teammate was a pretty good slugger in the deadball era.

Default The mystique of the T206 set's 350/460 series....Show us your cards

Illustrated here are the 66 subjects that American Lithographic selected to continue into the 460 series. My theory is simple....this group of cards were printed on the last sheets of the original
350 series cards. With the exception of the 6 super-prints, notice that all the images are action poses (which is typical of the design in the latter phases of each T206 series).

v................................................. ....... Super-Prints .................................................. .......v

Provided here is a pictorial guide to the 63 subjects in the mystical 350/460 series....so, let us see some of your "goodies". The more of these that you have with tougher backs, the better.
Perhaps then we will discover some new front/back combos. There still remains quite a number of unconfirmed front/back combos in the 350/460 series.

Thanks for your inputs.

My favorite Jennings card in the 350/460 series is this "one hand" version. It can be found with the American Beauty 460 (AB 460) back.
This is a very tough F/B combo to find....I think only 4 are known.

.

On the other hands (pun), Jennings "two hands" version is easier to find with an AB 460 back. This pose was also printed with the AB 350 (no frame) back.

Nice looking card there Ted! I sure wish I had more that were similar to yours.

I can't imagine there are a whole lot of these guys floating around out there.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge about this set. I do appreciate it.

Frank Chance is one of the guys that appears in the 150, 350-only, 350/460 and 460-only series of the T206 set.

PIEDMONT 460, f42

And, I'll throw in this 1910 COUPON card just because it will invariably stir up some controversy

Here's my Doc White cards with 350 and 460 series backs.

Besides pitching 10+ seasons for the Chicago White Sox, Doc was a Dentist.
Furthermore, he was a composer, and published at least 4 (or more) songs.
His best year was 1907 when he led the AL with 27 wins.

Hey guys,

I am fascinated with the 350/460 series cards with all their numerous front/back permutations. I think it is the most interesting series of the T206 set.

Gee, am I the only guy on this forum that appreciates the complexity of this series...... I don't think so !

So, let us see some of your favorite cards from this series. Especially those with esoteric backs (AB 460, BL 460, DRUM, red HINDU, LENOX and UZIT).
