Default FYI- 2015 Net54baseball Dinner at the National

The Net54baseball Dinner at the National will be revived this year. It will be on Friday, July 31st, the week of the National. There will be more details as we get closer but I want to give members an early heads up as I know people plan for things far in advance. (*not me, but some people actually do). I hope to see everyone there that can make it. Most likely we will have it an hour later (maybe 7:30pm) as we are thinking of not doing a regular dinner but doing horse duvers and an open bar. And isn't the open bar really the key? I am looking forward to it already!!

It's all good Barry. I always call them Horse Duvers. It's easier to spell incorrectly.

How many duvers can a person get from the average horse?

Not an easy word to spell. I call veal parmigiana veal with pajamas on. Kind of the same thing.

It really doesn't matter as long as you divvy up your duvers fairly.

Is a duver-ectomy generally successful? Do they regenerate?

Yes, you do not want to be a duver hoover.

I am looking forward to this dinner and putting faces to names while hopefully avoiding eating anything with horse meat in it. I hope that the open bar is stocked with Johnny Walker blue but I will settle for MacCallan 18

As a newer Net54 member can I ask what type of event this is? I have heard that there might even be speakers.

Sorry to be so picky, but isn't it "horses duvers," the plural form since we will have more than one? Looking forward.

Cheers, Mike

I hope I could make it to the National and this dinner. Keeping my figures crossed I get a job in the sports card industry or if that doesn't work out I have time off to go.

I'm probably skipping. There are some people on the internet who want to beat me up, and I'm kind of wetting my pants.

I'll wait for Cleveland to roll back around - much safer place.

Frank, it was kind of scary meeting you the last time I was in Chicago - not sure I've gotten over that yet.

In all sincerity - not getting to talk with you more is one of the things I regret about that trip. 2015 would require an immediate turn-around from a 2-week North Carolina trip, including getting my inventory to Chicago. Not sure it's logistically possible. If I miss it, will you be my second?

This dinner is the closest thing to the old school hospitality rooms which used to be a hobby staple.

Default Horse Duvers

This was always how my great grandfather pronounced it. My mom to this day still calls them that and laughs every time the menu says it.

Jesse. I'm on Long Island. I though about taking the LIRR toward Manhattan and grabbing one of those cheap busses that ferry folks direct to the casinos.

Leon, is there any truth to the rumor that you will be putting on a separate, but concurrent, gourmet, 10-course dinner for the NON-T206 collectors?

This is great news!

I always enjoy the Net54 Dinner.

Just need to ask a favor though. If there is a photographer at the dinner, would he please not stand behind me when he takes any photographs.

That's me in the bottom left corner. Depressing photo

Across the hobby, we are genetic oddities, still growing at such advanced ages. Some of us are getting too tall for our hair.

It's open and free to all members. There will be an RSVP and information thread approximately 3 weeks before the event.
