Default Another day....another T206 Cobb fake

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis

A Red Cobb pictured with a Piedmont 150 back....an ABSOLUTE No-No. The only Piedmont backs this Cobb exists with are 350 and 460.

This one is interesting in that the seller added a "possible reprint" statement after the bidding approached $200. Seller's profile appears
respectable, otherwise. This is more of a case of some ignorant bidders.

I can pretty much confirm that this dealer is simply unfamiliar with vintage cards. She initially listed a 1911 T212 Obak last week as a T206 with an Obak back, and was very appreciative when I emailed her about the mistake.

Edit: Okay, after viewing the auction Steve linked just below my post, maybe this dealer knows exactly what he/she is doing...

Not the same seller, but another day.....another obvious Joss, McGraw, Duffy, etc. fake reprint lot...being sold as the real deal...

This same seller, also has 4 Mantle's up for sale. The Mantle's look legit at first glance, but I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot baseball bat... Especially, since they currently have a bid by ebay "reprint" seller "josefina1747", who, I believe, has recently been featured on Net54 for selling dubious reprints of her own.

By the way, bidding is sure getting interesting on the T206 "fake" Cobb. A little shill bidding didn't hurt, but that's okay, ebay doesn't mind. Not a bad return at all on that purported estate find...

-Lovely Day, Iggy...

Well, with 4 days to go this fake Red Cobb (with a 150 back....Yikes !) is at $227.72.
In the bad condition it's in....even if it was real, it wouldn't warrant that price.
And, there are some bidders bidding on it who are not new to ebay.

Here again is the link......
