Default Ebay - Got nabbed at the finish line by someone who bid 7 times in 5 seconds

If it was one one of you all - a begrudging tip of the cap.

Default It was a Rebel Oakes t205 with American Beauty back

The bidding was at 26 with 30 seconds to go. I put in a bid for 51 with abou 6 seconds to go. The winner put in bids of 45,48,50,51,52 within that short time frame. My fault - I bid too early.

Rebel Oakes t205 American beauty back, ungraded by probably a 3

That's some impressive bidding.

My computer won't even display the "you've been outbid" message that quickly. I'm guessing they bid 45 at about 5 seconds and blindly hit the bid again button a bunch of times.

Sounds like someone just kept hitting the "1-click bid" functionality. Probably the only way that would be possible with that bidding pattern.

Different bid increments though, so that wouldn't be the case.

It was the one click bidding in action. No way someone can bid that fast. I have bid that fast using one click bidding as well. Once you make the bid, the previous bidder still had a higher bid in place, so the one click bidding just took it up to the next increment, which in this case was one dollar. Nothing special to see here boys. Anybody could have performed this feat if they wanted to.

That most certainly WOULD be the case. Here is how it works. You hit one click bidding, for let's say $41. Ebay bids automatically for the previous bidder who had a higher bid. Therefore, the previous bidder is at $42 now. That would make the new one click bid show at $43, which the one click bidder say "OK", and hit the button again. Ebay now puts the previous bidder at the $44 increment. When you see the bidding pattern, and the quickness, it is easy to see that is exactly what happened. I have done one click bidding before. I like it, when I have spontaneous interest in a card, and want to try to win it right now.

The beauty of one click bidding, is that you don't have to enter numbers in if you don't want to - you can just keep clicking the button and going with Ebay's next bid increment.

Really, it was my fault for putting in my bid too soon. My bid should have been a 2 or 3 seconds left, but I bid it with 7 seconds to go. Too much time - his last click - the one that took down the auction - was with the clock showing 1.

Oh well, good for him!

I know how it works. Looking at the bid history now, I can see that you are right. The bids that were given previously (before the link to the auction) were different increments though.

So yeah, one-click bidding in effect.

Your bid actually registered with 16 seconds to go...

And his first bid after that was 5 seconds later, so IF you had bid with 2 or 3 seconds to go, you probably would have won for $36.
