If you're suffering under the frozen anvil of the 'polar vortex,' forget about starting a fire or putting on an ugly sweater, because nothing will warm your soul quite like some new eye candy.

I'll start it off with the titleholder for the most underappreciated 1966 Topps SP high number, #580 Billy Williams. Sure, it's OC, but the top to bottom centering doesn't bother me enough to care too much, side to side it's nearly perfect, and the corners are wickedly sharp. Plus, using my ebay bucks allowed me to get it for a song...

Default Dubuque Packers

I received this Dubuque Packers minor league baseball card today. It warmed me up a few degrees after minus 36 degrees actual temperature.

Frankie Baumholtz was one of my favorite players. I attended a lot of PCL, LA Angel games in the late 40's and early 50's. He had a great year in 1950, 254 hits and batted almost .400.

Nothing huge, but some nice recent ‘75 Topps pickups. As a child of the 1980’s and having started collecting in the same era, the Brett card has always been iconic to me, yet unless my memory is faulty - this is the first one I’ve ever owned. Was a PSA 6 in a new holder but bounced around in it more than a basketball - so was quickly liberated. The Schmidt is just a nice card, and I’ve started a little player run on him in the last month or so after realizing how inexpensive most of his cards are. Most besides his rookie can be had for well less than $50 in nice shape, not bad for arguably the greatest 3rd baseman of all time.

John, nice 75's. The Brett rookie has always been one of my very favorite cards since I also collected in the 80's.

My second high grade Clemente OC of the month. Although technically off-centered and deserving the qualifier, if this card wasn't in a slab it would never even enter my mind that it was 'problematic'...

I won’t post the entire haul, but this was the highlight of my LCS trip today. I had been looking for one of these for a while, but only recently realized how difficult this card can be to find centered. This one isn’t perfect, but is far better than several others I had been considering online recently.

I got a '74 Topps Pete Rose, raw - but if not mint then I don't know what is...and a '77 Andre Dawson RC which is a bit off centered but has razor corners.

Technically not a Feb. pickup (I’ve had this card since I was 14...) but definitely a great mail day and a very welcome return home. This is my ‘56 Mick that I finally sent to SGC to encapsulate, just for the sake of preservation. I hope to be around for a long while to come, but when I’m not one day - I’m not guessing my two daughters are going to know a ton about vintage baseball cards. At least if it’s slabbed it will be easier to get rid of.

Picked up this 1969 Red Sox pocket schedule real cheap. I know this is an artist's rendering and Yaz's name isn't mentioned anywhere on it, but am I wrong that the hitter bears a striking resemblance to the Great No. 8 ?

That '56 has to be my favorite Mantle.

Yes, that's Yaz on the cover, regardless. I sold my 1967 Red Sox ticket to his agent at the National last year. He sent me two signed cards from Yaz.

Picked up a Frank Robinson (RIP) I always liked but never had. Also added three more cards for a "Black Aces" project I'm donating to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum when I finish.

Nothing earth-shattering but when's the last time plastic sheets made it into a pickup thread!

Nice. Virtually all of Frank's cards besides the '57 RC can be had for a pittance compared to other more popular HOF'ers. I've said it in these forums many times before, but will reiterate - definitely underrated. Nice pickups!

Received this one yesterday. This one is very OC (which a lot of them are from this subset) and is very hard to find with both players signed. It's one of my favorite all-time cards because 1- it represents the 1960 series...the year that I was born, and 2 - well, the subtitle on the card should give it away (see my name). LOL Anyway, very happy with this pickup.

Some recent and not so recent 52 Topps cards for my set. Not as centered as I would have preferred, but with some recent career changes and the CDN dollar being real low again, beggars can't be choosers. The Dick Kryhoski was an upgrade. I normally don't upgrade but my previous copy was pretty bad.

Still need, Pafko, Hogue, Rizzuto, Roe, Martin, Hitchcock, Podbielan and Berra to finish my low number set.

Scratch the Roe, I just won black backed one.

Man, that pic is horrible. Apologies. No, that is not the uber-rare "pink tint" '62 Topps Robinson #45. I need to invest in a new scanner...

Love the ‘62 Brooksie. They used this image a lot; very cool pic.

Recent pickup, PSA calls these test stickers but they are stickers meant to be stuck on a poster display so custoners could see what the posters look like. These are very tough to find.

Very late to the game, as I've purchased many cards since first finding out about these threads, but better late than never. Speaking of late, I'm finally cracking into the '52s, and boy oh boy, do they have some nice looking cards in this set. Not that you didn't already know that, lol.
