Default Recent Addition to my collection - Pics for the Yanks, Cubs or Silver Lovers :)

Long story short - as the story goes - I get a call to go look at an item that someone picked up....I get there and first off I think its just a sterling silver fancy bowl... with quite a bit silver weight.... then he goes "I don't know who the heck Joe is....but he must be important because thats Silver during the Depression" ..... I went in for a closer look and noticed its all engraved "TO OUR PAL JOE FROM THE 1930 CHICAGO CUBS"..... instantly I realized 1930 was the same year Joe McCarthy was fired...Im in Iowa so wondering how the heck this got here...I look at him and asked where it came from...he said one of his pickers just came back from the East Coast....i go, where...he goes he was in PA and RI ...my instant response....Wilkes Barre? Now the dealer is caught off guard and goes....how the heck did you know? he instantly knew i put 2 and 2 together and realized right then and there who Joe was - as obviously the hometown of McCarthy was Wilkes Barre, PA.... still cost a pretty penny due to all the silver weight, etc... but I sure thought it was worth adding to the collection - curious what you guys think of my addition or if anyone happens to have any info or photos supporting this gift to JOE M? I would happily purchase a photo or copy haha

Very nice pickup! That will be a nice item. If you just paid silver price on it you did well. Just goes to show there are still items out there if you look hard enough.

Wow. I don't collect that kind of art but as soon as I saw it I thought it was really nice looking. It has a substantial "quality" look to it.
