Default Dent removal from vintage Trophy?

Hey guys,

I recently picked up this circa 1909 Reach figural trophy, and wanted to get some opinions. As you can see in the below photos, the ball portion has several decent sized dents. Has anyone had any experience or heard of anyone being able to remove these type of dents? I was thinking of bringing it to a very high end auto body shop near me and see if they had any ideas, but I think that may be a bad idea, plus they will probably just look at me like I'm nuts for bringing a trophy to them. I was also thinking of getting a jewelers opinion.
Carlton mentioned to me that he recalls hearing of a technique where a small hole is drilled, sand inserted, and somehow pressurized to remove the dents. Anyone ever hear of this?

thanks for any help you can provide
Keith

An auto body shop doesn't sound like the best of ideas.

If you wanted to do something with this, I would try a musical instrument store with someone that does repairs to brass instruments. Years back when my son's trumpet fell victim to perils of the middle school bandroom, they could do some some pretty good work removing creases, and dings that one might have figured would never come out.

So you are the one who outbid me on that! Nice trophy, and I would have asked the same question had I won it. I was thinking a jewelry store that does repairs but I think the musical instrument shop idea is probably a really good one.

Just rub some of Dick Towle's stuff on it.

Seriously....nice piece.

I have a Trophy that I was going to get refinished by a silver finishing company and they said they would also take out any dents. I never did get it done, but try a company that does slilver refinishing. Check yellow pages in your area or online.
