Default Older Pirates Team Logo Felt--ID Needed?

Hello everyone,

Doe this have a designation or anyway of identifying this? This Pirates team logo felt came in a large Pittsburgh area collection I bought from the 1940s-1980s. Any ideas?

I've seen it used around the 1960 time frame. There is a 1960 Juice Glass that features this same Pirate, along with a salute to the 1960 Championship.

They also had a more cartoonish Pirate Mascot at that time. I would say this Mascot is the less "common" of the two. It was probably used from the late '50s through early '60s.

Hope this helps.

I stand corrected... just slightly

This website says it was used from 1948 - 59. Click the link below...

I think it's more of a guideline than solid fact. It says the cartoonish Pirate was used 1960 through '67, but I think they were actually done with that one by 1964 or so. If you need to pinpoint it further, the best way to determine would be to reference Pirates Yearbooks, Scorecards and other periodicals.

Thanks for the help. I've never seen that broken skull and crossbones theme before?
