Default What's with Different Flip Dates?

I have an 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter Monte Ward and another dated 1888.

The Fan Craze sets were originally dated 1904 for A.L. and 1906 for N.L., but now it appears that they are all 1906.

Does anyone know what's going on with these?

Thanks

In some cases, the grading companies are reluctant to change the issue dates of sets on their flips if they have already graded a large number with the previously believed correct date on them. I think it would make a mess of their database. I have seen where the corrections have been made too though, thus creating cards that can be found both ways as you mentioned.
