Default John Hart's Moves:

The jury may be out for a while on John Hart's initial moves a Braves' head honcho: Jayson Heyward was injured a lot and his offensive production was inconsistent. His defense, however, was superb.

The projected outfield lineup going forward is Gaddis in left BJ in center and Justin in right - that has a chance to be the worst defensive outfield in recent memory. Atlanta is one team that leans on their defense a lot, so this may be a prescription for disaster.

Shelby Miller is a good young pitcher who has a few years away from arbitration and free agency.

While it is true that Heyward will be a free agent in 2016, one has to question the trade based on what was given up compared to what was acquired.

Along with Heyward, the Braves gave up Jordan Walden, a proven late-inning power arm.

Today, they signed Jim Johnson - who will basically be taking Walden's place in the pen. He is definitely not a power arm and had a 7.09 ERA last year.

Without a hint of sentiment, Jonny Venters was DFA'd, and Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy were not offered contracts. All three were high quality pitchers and have given much (seven TJ surgeries between them) for the cause.

The closest remedy to an Uggla situation at second base was Tommy LaStella and he was traded away for a pitcher the Braves had previously given up on.

So far, the hard-hearted, but fairly easy from a logical and economic decision that released three injured pitchers might be the only good move so far.

Raymond- the Braves are a joke right now, and probably will be for at least a couple of years. They have already made some suspect moves, and what's really tragic, they are still stuck with the contracts for Uggla and B.J. Upton (Frank Wren's stupidity). Also, they are actively trying to trade Justin Upton and Gattis as we speak, and they kept on Fredi Gonzalez as Mgr., which is really a joke. Hell, they couldn't score any runs last year! I'm afraid the old Ted Turner days are long gone....

Default He must have read my note:

They signed Nick Markakis to a 4-year deal. He's a gold-glove right-fielder with local ties. Good work, Mr. Hart !

I here you on that Ray, but if that was the plan, why get rid of Heywood to begin with? Markakis, like Heywood, has a good glove...But what exactly did the Braves accomplish with this swap out?? Plus, he's a lot older....
