well, considering my post went over like a lead fart, i might as well say now, that it was a poor attempt at an april fool's joke.

i guess we'll never be able to replicate the hysterics that Wonka's fake T206 Jackson provided 2 years ago...

Hey Michael- that looks like a real 1903 World Series stub to me. I think I missed the April Fool's joke too.

there are only a few of those stubs known to exist. from the first world series 1903. worth probably $25-30K+ (this was an image from an old auction).

i like the fact that i've built up my street cred over the years to such a level that nobody flinches when i "supposedly" drop $60K+ in one month on 3 pieces

Those three cards did strike me as rather pricey...I was trying to calculate in my head how many shares of Apple you would have needed to buy and sell to afford them.

Edited because I thought you said there were only three 1903 World Series stubs known...you just said there was only a few. That's fair.

Tony- I think it was April 1 , 2007. John posted that he was contacted by a family wishing to sell some T206's, and he put scans of them on the board. All were real, except for one that he photoshopped. It was a proof with no name on it, but it was a player in a Cleveland uniform that looked an awful lot like Joe Jackson. It garnered more than a little attention. But of course it was an April Fool's Day joke.

Funny day while many board members played it's an obvious April fools day joke, some of the very same were emailing April every few hours...which was me..

Also funny were the auction houses and sellers that emailed April...I really found out that day who was stand up and who was..well not so stand up.

Very funny day..thanks to Leon & Barry...who were there to help.

It was a very funny premise but not everyone was laughing.

Would love to hear what happened, even if you kept the real identities hidden: "Seller X" and "Auction house Z".

i skimmed through it.. funny stuff.. at the risk of sounding retarded.. so the proof was a fake.. also the one that had the name was a fake? or was that a one off that someone has in their collection..? and pied 550.. was that part of the hoax...

skim reading leaves me with questions
